Would you like to have your own permanent Mini-Gallery at Simviation?

The Personal Portfolios, along with the Gallery and the main competition gallery should be a substantial body of work showing Simviation's many great FS screenshot artists at their best!

There will soon be a link from the normal Simviation site to Studio V and it is hoped that people will pop in and check out our galleries….and hopefully join and contribute to this great community!

You can be part of this, and display 10 of your best shots here for all to view:

If you would like to have that portfolio you need to follow these steps. It’s not too difficult but I simply don’t have time to do it for everybody…..

1. You need to have been a Simviation forum member for more than 180 days, and to have more than 1000 posts. Both criteria must be fulfilled – the Personal Portfolio is a privilege for regulars. If you’ve left and returned….sorry, you’ll have to wait.

Exception to 1 – if you’ve won Judge’s Choice and already have a picture in the portfolio then you MAY have a gallery even if you’ve been here less/have less posts.
Any Judges Choice wins are additional to your normal quota of 10!

2. Choose 10 shots which you feel are really your best and save them as no more than 100kb as per usual… but…. they CAN be bigger than 800x600 because you are going to link to them with a thumbnail, but must be no more than 100kb.

3. Resize your shots to 100x100 pixels EXACTLY and name them the same, but with ‘t’ on the end. Eg. if bigmamma is the original shot then bigmammat is the small pic.
This small pic will be your thumbnail.

4. Upload your 10 shots and 10 thumbnail shots to Simv.

5. Make a new post by QUOTEing the post immediately below this one. It has Stormtropper’s portfolio. I chose this because it has all 10 shots in it. Now, in this, your new post:

a. Remove the [quote….blah blah numbers numbers….] and [/quote] stuff at the beginning and end.
b. Change the name to your name. Unless you’re called Stormtropper too….
c. You should notice in the mess of stuff that his pics are all called portportfolio (1, 2, 3 etc) and his thumbnails are called portportfoliot (with the t). Insert the names of your shots and thumbnails in place of his…i.e. here:
d. /yabbuploads/XXXXXXXXX.jpg][img]http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/XXXXXXXXXXt.jpg

6. Now, press post, and you should see something which looks and functions exactly like Stormtroppers mini-gallery. If it doesn’t, you did something wrong. Try again till you get it right.

7. I will take CORRECTLY MADE portfolio posts and transfer them to the mini-gallery.

The aim is to produce a marvelous gallery of screen artwork…

Sure mate, just delete the extra ones from Storms post that you are not planning to use.

I reckon anyone can find 10 though Wink

- you can change them next time the portfolio is 'open for business' anyway - all I will have to do is copy your post into the portfolios and delete the old one.

Due to the deafening lack of interest I'm leaving this open for good, as it doesn't seem likely to overburden me with work. Grin

I will be adding personal portfolios myself when I get time.... Studio V should have one, other sites charge money for them... they will be done. Just making those darn thumbnails is a pain Roll Eyes

Your shot is going in the portfolios either in 10 minutes, or if I find my comp still won't let me change things on SimV dispite some remedial actions, I will put it there tomorrow from work.

You've got some JC runners-up to go up there too, but I need to edit them still... they'll get there eventually but I have so many other fish to fry... and a 2.5 week holiday coming up Roll Eyes
