Why can't people be more respectful and open the CORRECT PORTS and not some ramdon ones so other can't join as now I cannont connect as someone on multiplayer has incorrect ports open. We seriously have to get tight on ports, this is getting to bad. All my ports are CORRECT.

I think what many people have to realise is that their ports do cause a problem to some people, I talked to the guy on earlier and he kindly offered to come offline and try and sort it out so you could get on, so I think it's a little carsh calling him disrespectful.

.mic (no router/ port trouble for me Grin)

concordpilot,

It is actually a rather inconsiderate act if the person KNOWS about it and does nothing about it.  All they care about is themselves.  They connect...and that is all that matters to them.  Roll Eyes

BUT.................

Probably 90 percent of the people who do this don't even KNOW what a port IS, don't know ABOUT opening ports, and don't know WHICH ports need to be opened.

Then when they find out.......... 50 percent of THOSE people do not know HOW to open the corerect ports in firewalls and routers and dsl modems ..... even given the available tutorials.  Because we sort of take it for granted that people read forums on great placves like SimV and have access to information..... but a lot do not.

And the real root of the problem is the Microsoft interface ... that causes this whole problem to exist.  The multiplayer settings screen and ability to connect doe not have any info about that built into it.  It SHOULD be set up so that you CAN'T connect untless the ports are opened!

All you can do is "grin and bear it".

best,

.......................john

1. I am not calling any disrespectful I am just saying it is as people don't think of other when they want to fly with others but they can't as of this.
2. Putting up with it (another probelm in life, not being able to connect 50% of the time)

Ok, thanks. I still think we should do something about it.

After talking to them they realised their mistake and took it as a bit of a joke, but seriously...that is not how to make friends!

Yes, I've had issues with them too.

I don't blame whoever it was. Who cares if they become our friends, if they are selfish enough not to care about ruining the game for other people then I hope they come to hate us and leave our server!

I have always checked my ports and I am confident that they are the correct ports. However, there are times where someone out of one of the 16 online players that are in the session gets booted everytime I try to log in; but then again, that usually happens when the server reaches its maximum capacity. This forces me to leave the session [voluntarily] so that important members like the moderators can come in. After that, I can get back in; but at the expense of getting someone else kicked from the session due to having too many people in one session. Roll Eyes

Then common courtesy would be to NOT fly online UNTIL you can rectify that situation and KNOW that they are opened.  I know that is certainly inconvenient for YOU and a bit of an unfortunate thing.... but it is inconsiderate to OTHERS to continue to ignore the situation as if it did not exist.

We all can wish that the ports thing was not an issue.... but it is.

concordepilot,

Just for yucks I just went and saw who was on and tried to log on.  Got in first time, no lag on the connect, and all seemed just fine.  Couldn't fly today....but just checking.  About 21:14GMT.....here's the screenshot of who was on:

...

So maybe the issue is on YOUR end... not someone elses?

Jimbo's Australian Tour:

Concordepilot made multiple attempts to connect tonight....each one instantly failed...

As none of the other Pilots on any of the Hops seem to have any difficulty in maintaining their connections, I rather suspect that the problem lies solely with Concordepilots own Internet Multiplayer connection...!!

None of the other Fliers seem to get "thrown off" during the flights..!

It's mostly an occurrence with Concordepilot's own connection during a flight.

It happens even with only a couple of Pilots, (any Pilots!), on line at the time.

Paul....G-BPLF.... Cool...!

Questions:

Does the Computer belong soley to Concordepilot?
Is Concordepilot the only person who uses the Computer?
Is there a Router in his system?
Has Concordepilot tried connecting his computer Modem directly to the Phone socket and by-passing any Router, (with it's Ports), which may be in the system?

A test here may show up any problems...Wink...!

1.Yes the computer belongs to me and me only
2.I am the only one as I have it password protected.
3.NO router policy in my life.
4.I have tried everything.

Even GRV3964 is having the same problems.
