I used something called QuickCAD for some of the work.  And a standard graphics drawing program for the panel facings.

Frontpanel designer is a good choice too...... although I am sure that they'd RATHER that you order some aluminum panels from them.  

I plan to use that for my main annunciator panel;  getting those FDS annunciators all set up in a tight array with narrow strips of thin MDF wood between them would NOT work very well.  That will likely be the ONLY aluminum panel in the pit other than the Goflight panel facings.
