Have a SNJ2 I have started in FSX, No problem with animating the gear to go up and down but the problem is
with the compresion. I can't get it to work, Do I use the r_gear or l_gear tag or is there another tag to use?

For landing gear compression, key it from 100 – 200. So in other words, 0 – 100 is the lowering of the landing gear and 100 – 200 is the compression. I am assuming that you are using Gmax, if not disregard this post.

Uncle Milton's COntact Points Tutorial  is a must read.

Jon - it doesn't matter what modelling program you use,  landing gear compression is animated from keyframe 101-200 (considering that kf 100 is landing gear full extension, no weight on, tyres touching the ground.

Remember, with FS-X it doesn't matter what you call the part(s) (gmax/3DSMAx) since you use the animation tool to identify cross reference the partname with the animation tag.
