Check out the detail on that asphalt!
...

Managed to capture lightning by chance. (Would have been nice if there was a plane in sight!)
...

...

Right, now I think this may be out of the scope of this site, but I was tinkering around with this picture of earth and had the idea of adding
a plane. I have showed my ignorance by suggesting that we should be able to capture, edit and create videos (mini movies) of real time
game play, only to find out that YouTube is filled with fantastic flight movies made just this way! At the risk of showing once again my lack of
knowledge, I would like to suggest that some of the game designers come up with a way to travel into space and visit all of the planets
and moons in our solar system. We should be able to fly (at close to the speed of light of course, slew) and see the american flag on the
moon. I would like to fly through the enormous canyons on mars. Even catch up to comets or fly through the
huge fireballs ejected fromthe sun! I know it is not realism but it sure would be fun to me.
Am I totally off the wall?

I was about to ask where the edit was, until I saw the last shot!
Fantastic idea! I really like it! Do you have a bigger version
of it?  Smiley

Don't forget that all of my posts on this section are edits in that they are all (mostly) composites of many photos stitched together.
#1 consists of about 18 screenshots.
#2 is only 2 stitched together.
#3 again is about 19 or so.

The earth pix is a screen shot from a free 'live earth' program that apears on my desktop. I just did some retouching, added an atmosphere and background and so on.

Great as usual, especially the second one... amazing!!!

I've often thought about FS as Space Sim... problem (as you probably know) is the area around the earth doesn't extend far even in FSX, and engines don't work there. Unless MS develops something additional or new, the only way would be to use a 'switcher' that turns Earth into a new planet. William Ortis (I think) was working on a Mars Simulator, but it hasn't been finished to date. It would be a lot of work, and you still couldn't fly between places. Exploring Mars would still be cool.... though for how long?

A lot of people say "Orbiter is for spaceflight" but what some people are dreaming of is a space sim based on FS ie... that looks great (with tweaks, of course  Grin) and doesn't require too much brainpower to operate, unless you want to go hardcore...  one where you can explore the whole surface of new planets, a bit like in Braben's Frontier... but better...

I believe Spore will allow the creation of a semi-infinite universe - people will make their own world and these will be uploaded...as you travel through space you'll encounter other people's creations. But Spore is a life-sim with funny multicoloured beasties... Smiley

Right. Yep. Cheers... Cheesy
