A Tragic incident, if it is the right plane my condolences go out to all the families affected.

Indeed.
Once again the BBC has excelled itself with quality journalism:

Unlikely, by bad weather the crew would select continuous relight. By flame out, you would get automatic continuous relight. Now bearing in mind that the NG has digital engine control, from cockpit to engine is fly by wire, the ECU's would meter the required amount of fuel to keep the engines burning regardless of how heavy the rain is. For example, after a heavy bird strike I has opened up at full bore a fire hose from a fire engine into a running engine, there was more water that air coming out and it still did not flame out.

Exactly - tabloid journalism - not what one should expect from the national broadcaster. Not to mention 99.95% of anyone who had any contact with the event would not have a clue about aviation matters. Just like the Harrier last year - the BBC's eyewitnesses, who proclaimed to know what he was talking about talked about flames from the "left hand engine"...

Further to the aircraft, she was the first 800 bought by Kenyan Airways delivered October 30th, 2006. Probably less than 1000 hours on the clock

According to one story the aircraft was less than 6 months old.
The search has been expanded and in one village the residents say they saw a large flash and heard a loud boom that was not thunder.

Just over 6 months, but only by a couple of days. Under the circumstances, who's counting. At Airliners.net there are some pictures of her transiting through Heathrow on her delivery flight.

"Experts" are already speculating about what happened. On saying that it happened so soon after take off it must have been catastrophic structural failure
It is Africa, so there could be countless reason ranging from security to technical.
