I'm having some trouble with quality in my screen shots.... I set AA to full (16x) on my graphics card and have all other settings on it maxed out. My FSX is at medium high settings, also with AA ticked. But i cant seem to get the GREAT quality that i see with soo many other people. Here is an example of the best quality i can attain.... http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1176487102

I have a hunch, that it might be the fact that my graphics card is ancient rubish. Its an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Series (from 2003?). And also the fact that my comp sucks (1.56 ghz, dell 4400) cannot be helping either. Can anyone suggest to me how to make them better? I applied all the tweaks that i felt i could do without screwing something up. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I have a similar card (Ati 9550) and a 1.6Ghz P4....

Don't turn on AA in the sim  Wink, only in the card, and 8x in the card is enough.

I see your shots are overcompressed also... you used only 31kb out of the 100kb you can use... download Irfanview (click) and keep playing with the quality until you get almost no loss.

Hope that helps Wink

yeah Irfanview really helped for me. Keep the image within 90Kb and you have got yourself a good shot. Wink

Fist of all, as said above, make sure AA isnt on in FS as I think this overwrites the card settings.

I have a similar card (9800 Pro)...and have no chance of making FSX run OK....I would advise sticking to FS9....I find I can constantly get it looking nice maxed out compared to FSX where I can only get it looking nice in the middle of nowhere Wink

Also on compression, if you use photoshop, use the save to web function, it retains loads of quality, Irfanview is good, but loses more quality than Photoshop does.

Hope that helps.

PS...Dont forget to think about composition and lighting...its seen on this site often that people with modest set ups can produce awesome shots just because of the angle and composition. Have a look at some articles (especially the recently posted angles one by AlonsoX) Wink

In paint.net the compression slide tells you how many KB its going to be as your moving the slider.

Do you have photoshop? If so, use that to save your shots to .jpg. You can use either fraps or irfanview or some other program to make screenshots. Just make sure you initially save to .bmp.
