Hello!  Cheesy

I decided to write in Studio V weekly or so... and well, I'll try to make some articles first.

This one is about angles... because I think is something I know a bit about. Wink. Well, let's start.

First of all, there are some programmes and add-ons that will help us reach much better angles that the ones that come with the default sim. On the freeware side we have "F1 view" from Flight1 and the "Recorder Module" which is also available for FSX. On the payware side we have "Active Camera" and Walk and Follow (my favourite).

I think there are many ways to show planes or scenery.  We can choose from a very large variety of angles that are normally classified in these types:

- Close ups:

Are normally applied to some sections like the tail or the nose of the plane. Close-ups must be taken carefully, because when they are applied to sections like wings or to the scenery, the shot looks too "cut". We must also try to show some scenery in the shot.

Example:

...

- Plane overviews

Are those in which we can see the entire plane, plus some scenery in the background, that means we can't zoom a lot. We must also check if lighting is correct (so the plane doesn't look too dark or too shiny because of the position of the sun or the moon). It's better not to zoom out too much because the plane textures can look blurry.

Example:

...

- "Abstract" angles

"Abstract" angles are those that are mostly irregular or are not common, but that doesn't mean they're not good. Some of them can turn out very well. With the add-ons listed above we can "play" with angles until we find one that we like, and just post it  Smiley there's nothing to lose.

- Wingviews

The name says it all. Scenery and good clouds help a lot with them. We can get wingviews from specific add-ons for some planes, or sometimes they even come with the plane. But I recommend creating our own wingviews by playing with angle add-ons.

Example:
...

Maybe I didn't list them all, but from these 4 types, we can get thousands of angles. We only should use our creativity  Cheesy. Try always to look for good lighting and not to focus or blurry textures. Sometimes it is only necessary to "pause" the sim and the textures will load completely. Very few times it helps, so it is better to turn off lens and sun flares.

Hope you enjoyed the read and hope it encouraged someone to take some shots. Wink

(sorry if I made some spelling errors)

Great job.

Only mistake I can find is you seem to like lightning more than lighting. Wink

Great tutorial - thinking about things like this systematically are very helpful. For beginners and people who were never artistically inclined it helps with compositons, and it also helps people like me who have been doing it for a while but perhaps just use trial and error... it helps to remember the options you have in creating a varied screenshot post, and to see the actual reason why you feel one shot you take is better than another.

Cheers  Alonso, it's going in the tutorials file...
