The great cellist Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich died on April 27 2007. I would have posted this sooner but i forget.

Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich was born on March 27, 1927. He had won over 50 awards for in the musical field. He played Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 at the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

My violin teacher knew him personally.

Here is a picture of  Rostropovich

Truly one of the world's greats. He'll be missed, especially in London where he was a regular guest with the LSO.

Agree with you on youtube, Paul - check out the Heifetz footage.
