Hello guys,

Been looking around for a GPS that will run on a networked PC.  Is there such a program out there? I know you can download a plugin for FSUIPC that will translate flight sim data to a gps I guess NEMA format. But Im not about to shell out $$$ for commercial GPS software.

I love the default gps in FS9 I wonder if I could somehow network that bad boy using wideview? Or is there something better out there I havent found yet?

Everything you need to know about GPS. Smiley

No reason you couldn't design a Touch Buddy interface to allow control of the software he uses... could be very cool to have a touchscreen moving map in the pit.

masternerd,

You and I are thinking about the same things at the same time right now.  No joy yet here.  But I'll keep you posted.  If you find a solution.... let me know.  I'd really like a pretty colse Garmin mock-up.

Last night I tried setting up my main flight sim PC with a second monitor on which I would try out the default MS GPS emulation.  WOW!  MISTAKE!  Having that second screen with ONLY the GPS displayed on it really brought my framerates down an amazing amount. (Using an exterior view even more so.)   NOT an option.... at least with my present hardware setup.  Cry

I think you COULD run WideView and run a second copy of the simulation (FS2004) on another machine and monitor and set that sim up to JUST display the default GPS gauge on the screen.  That would probably work..... but it's an expensive solution since that machine would have to run fs2004 about as well as the core machine so as not to cause "lag".

The other one that I want BADLY is a weather radar associated with the ND.  Project Magenta has the ability to integrate a stand alone WX radar )from another company) in it.... but PM is WAY over MY budget.

best,

Sadly Pocket FMS, which I had preferred is no longer cheap.... 150 Euros per year!

Memory-Map is only $99, but maps are add-ons which could drive costs up considerably!

It will take some exploration to figure out the best route... and the cheapest.

Hey guys think the crew at flyware might be interested in making that an option? At least the weather radar. I haven't registered there yet but maybe a combined effort could be useful.

I think I know what I'm going to use for the moving map:

Its not exactly what im looking for but should fill the void until{if} something better or cheaper is available.
