Wow, that must've been cool to experience!
Psh... Now do it upside down, full burner, and lower
.

High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.&&

i know the pilot Jerry Billing! He was my neighbor for about 9 years!

my favourite part was that every Sunday i woke up to the
sound of a Merlin roaring over my house!

You've got a good memory for a 2 year old
1994 Jerry retired from flying MK923 and the plane was sold to Craig McGraw and displayed at the Museum Of Flight, Seattle
In Jerry's career he displayed Spitfires NH188, TE308, SL721 and MK923 for many different owners across North America
Jerry also checked many pilots out in North America on flying a SpitfireTo this day Jerry lives outside Essex Ontario, were he still fly's a 1947 Aeronca Champ at age 84 from his own grass strip

a little update
I was 3 to 4 years old when he flew mk923
the sound of a Merlin waking you up every sunday morning is something you never forget!
he is now 86 years old - still flies his Champ
his only wingmen are the Canadian Geese that he feeds seeds every summer morning!
