The UK's last flying Lancaster bomber has been restored and returned to the air.

Amazing looking plane.

Well that'll teach you not to believe journalists! This is the BBMF Lanc and it has been flying for a considerable time. She just had a winter overhaul before the airshow season gets seriously underway! She is one of only 2 operational Lancs in the world (the other is in Canada). She has been happily turning and burning for many years. In fact it is the BBMFs 50th anniversary!

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Nice to see her back in the air. She gets a new scheme every 6 or so seasons. Hopefully she'll have many more years in her yet. Smiley

I'm glad to see a more 'warlike' looking marking on the Lanc. Mickey wasn't bad but I much prefer Phantom Of The Ruhr. Cool

I hope the next one could be an early Lancaster scheme. Seeing as they've done 100Sqn the honour this time around, I think 207 Sqn would be an appropriate, and different (white lettering rather than the usual red etc..)
