Does anyone know of or have done a tutorial on sound files? Especially the sound.cfg file.
A few issues I'd like to fix in the game...
1) I've downloaded several 'real' sound files for a few a/c, and while they sound great for the engine, the sound of the flaps, gear etc are gone.
2) I have several flying boats, some with wakes, some not. 2 of them have internal sound for the engines, but no external engine sounds (although the weapon sounds work). I can't see anything wrong in the .cfg file, and I've run the sound bites in media player and they work.
3) I have 2 other flying boats (Emily and Mavis) that have extensive sound bites for water contact etc, yet the sound.cfg file just says 'alias to P-38'... hence no water sounds.

I'm sure these would all be very simple to fix in the .cfg file if I only knew what I was looking at...

PS; the 2 a/c with engines that are silent outside are 2 variants of the Bv138. They are a conversion from FS9 I think. To get them to show up in CFS2 I had to edit the aircraft.cfg file from

I found a work-around , but a tutorial on the sound.cfg would still be useful I think.

I tried aliasing the sound to another a/c (corsair). The Bv138 is a trimotor, yet the aliased soundfile gave sounds for each of the three engines, so I'm guessing a link to the aircraft.cfg file.
Anyway, I did notice that there are some water sounds (the spalshlanding sound when you bellyflop into the water). It isn't as nice or as loud as the water on hull sounds, but for the moment, close enough. I guess I didn't hear them with the Mavis because the engines were louder...maybe.

Still, I wanted the cool engine sounds for the Bv138, so I copied the entire sound folder contents from the corsair to the Bv138 then copied the external and internal sound files for the motor of the Bv138 into a temp folder and renamed them to replace the engine sounds for the corsair. I now have a plane with the correct engine sounds, with flap sounds, and with (some) water sounds. Happy enough for now, but any further info would be appreciated!
