Just thought this might be of interest.
I'd attend but it clashes with Waddington. There are other events besides the Breighton one if you look around...

Thanks. I'd like to pay a visit to Breighton at some time but it's a little further away than I usually travel these days. It also clashes with the Summer Air Day at Old Warden. Some of those other venues look interesting though.

Yet again we are going to be 60 miles away on the day they come to Sleap
I've got to get in and plan the family holidays before anyone else does next year
Steve, where do you go to in the Mach loop? We're going to be in Bala over that week, where is the best spot?

Hey 61, with the Mach loop the best place I found on my week there is the north part of the A470, it runs east west. About halfway along is a parking area with a rather steep hill on the southern side. If you walk up this there are two levels, the lower level is perfect for side on shots I found. However a guy there was telling me if you walk further up the hill there is a steep rock face that you can see from the first spot. You will find yourself on the top of that looking down on the aircraft. Be prepaired to spend the entire day there if you want to see much so basically from about 9am to 5:30 for maximum spotting chances. I did find a website from the MOD giving operational times, but after the first day we soon realised it was a waste of space as they were also flying outside the times given. There are also several places along the A487 but you have to be prepaired for a real walk to get to the spotting points as its quite steep and unsuitable for kids or carrying large heavy items.

Thanks Craig, we're back there late May/early June, and I'm trying to think of a way that I can excuse myself for the day and sit on a hillside
Of course, I need to see if I can improve my photographic equipment to make the best of the opportunity......just need to sell a few shares

drop the family off on one of the local beaches. Borth isn't too far from the loop plus you can see the aircraft flying out over the bay which is cool. Then drive off for the day. Or tell them to leave you there and pick you up at the end of the day while they goto the beach and perhaps the magical caves or whatever they are called along the A487.

I'll sort something out, I think a day trip during term time would probably be more efficient use of time, but maybe I can drag the big one off for the morning or something and leave the two little ones at home with mum.....
We took them all for a walk in the Glyder's last year, and got some nice views of some Hawks, so if we can get to walk along a route then that may be our best bet rather than staying still.

I've never been there, so I'm glad Craig took the weight off my shoulders!

Apologies Steve, I thought you had, no worries.
I thought your pic of the Eurofighter in Cumbria with the road in the background was super by the way, it's not a spot that I've seen lots of pictures of. Is it common to get the road in the shot there or were you just lucky?

I don't believe I've ever shot a Typhoon at low level, do you have the shot to hand?

Now I'm worried I'm just losing it.........I'll have a look around and see if I can remember what it was I was looking at, apologies again
Edit: Yes, confirmed, I'm just losing it, it was a shot on Airliners which I had credited to you in my strange and limited mind.
