Can't help you... non-IR, and I hate acronyms. I always find some other mnemonic device for these things... usually something that only makes sense to me. Grin

I've got, in no particular order:

Required Reports - All Times

1. Vacating Assigned Altitude
2. Altitude Change - VFR on top
3. Unable Climb/Descend 500 FPM
4. Missed Approach
5. Change TAS 5% or 10 kts
6. TIME/ALT Reaching Clearance Limit
7. Leaving Holding Fix
8. Hazardous WX Conditions
9. Equipment Loss
10. Safety of Flight Issues

Looks like you already have #1, #3, #4, and #9, but I didn't get them as an acronym, just a list.

Grin i have asked a few coworkers - and they have never heard of that acronym  Roll Eyes

but if you look at it there are like 13 spaces for the acronym

but there are basically only like 10 required reports to ATC when IFR whats with the 3 extra spaces in the acronym then - thats what i dont get.

i came up with this and it KINDA works

M - Missed Approach has been executed
A - Altitude Change when operating VFR on top
R - ????? Duhhhhh ??????????
V - vacating any assigned altitude or flight level
E - entering holding (fix, time and altitude)
L - leaving a holding fix
O - Outer marker inbound when not in radar contact
U - unsafe weather/ flight conditions
S - safety of flight related issues
V - variation of true airspeed by more than 10 knots or 5% of the filed TAS
F - failure of any VOR ADF TACAN receiver
R - ????? Ummmmmm ??????
500 feet per minute climb or descent rate limitation

just havnt run into ANYONE who is familiar with this acronym (there are tons of them out there)

Here's the acronym I was taught to use, and still teach, and it seams to work well...

"Meals fifty-three VFR"

Missed approach
Entering a hold
Any altitude leaving
Leaving a hold
Speed change of 10kts or 5% TAS
500 fpm unable
3 minutes +/- ETA change (when not under radar control)
VFR on top
Final Approach Fix (when not under radar control)
Radios (any malfunctions or unforcast weather conditions)

well the guy that was asking me finally got it figured out... it turned out to be an acronym that his instructor for his instrument rating made up or got from some older guy... but it was for required reports to ATC with a couple of other little things added in... i dont recall what they were, but it was real forehead slappers.

i just dont recall ever coming across that particular acronym. thanks for all the unput guys - the dude passed his ride BTW  Cool
