Ok you want to use the recorder module?  That's simple.

To do it the hard way, just start a flight, hit alt, go to Recorder/Record.  Record for however long you want.  Then save the recording and click Recorder/Play as AI traffic and select the recording you just took.  You should see the flight you just recorded being played as traffic.

If you want to set up a shot really well, though, like I do for some of my dogfight shots, Record a flight while in slew mode.  Position the aircraft just how you want it, then increase the rate of the sim and let it record for a bit.  Then, play it as traffic and it will just sit there.  You can then put your aircraft wherever you want it, pause, and take the shot .

Does that explain it?  I'm kind of confusing I know... .  If the mods want I could write a tutorial on this...
