It's not a commercial flight. It's going to ORD with Lufthansa employees.

All of this is still publicity/airline hob-nobbing.  the first whalejet has yet to enter commercial service.

So? It's still the largest passenger aircraft ever made. Is that not enough reason to see it?

marksman,
If you'll re-examine my previous post, you'll find that I said nothing about whether it is worth seeing.  I'd love to see be out a JFK that day, scanner in hand, and watch her arrive/depart.  All I said was that the plane is still in publicity flights (something most new aircraft do, including boeings, the falcon 7x, and airbuses), so the relatively short hop is understandable, and that I believe that its appearance is less than flattering.  I said nothing about the engineering behind it or bashed airbus--only that it's not my favorite in terms of looks.
Jumping to conclusions is what gets us into conflict on this great forum.  We're all guilty of it.

The problem with forums is that tones are easily misread.
The way I read it was obviously very different from the way it was intended, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I know that all new aircraft make publicity flights

As for the engineering. The engineers did a fascinating job of getting something that massive to leave the ground; however, as with ships, any beauty that the machine possesses is merely coincidental. The engineer was told to get it off the ground, not make it look pretty. I think its one of the ugliest modern aircraft in existence as well.

I'm streaming WLS off the internet.  They reported the A380 is supposed to be landing at O'Hare soon.  Pretty cool.  They announced, the Chicago police is prepared to add to the city's coffers should someone get the bright idea they'll park illegally to get a look at the A380.

Whoa, I see!  Cool video though.  I read an account that a 747 came in just prior and a witness commented how the A380 was quieter that the 747.  I also read how the A380 requires about 1 1/2 times more seperation that the 747 which could screw traffic patterns and scheduling.  All that'll have to be worked out.  I'm sure they will.

Yesterday, I bought the Abacus A380 for FS9.  Looking forward to checking it out.

Not sure if it was an autoland approach, but even if it was, they would disconnect for the flare itself.
Looks like things went awry after the mains touched down... it was on-center, but suddenly it veered right... very odd. Might have been wind, or perhaps somebody dropped the encyclopedia-sized checklist binder on the rudder pedal... ;d
