I decided that I want to modify my BAe 146-200 aircraft to feature autobrakes.  (Hey...... it's my simpit plane...... I can mod the plane as I want...I own it!  Custom aircraft.  Wink.)

So I installed the above mentioned gauge into a blank place in the virtual panel and then assigned keystrokes to activate it for RTO, off, 1, 2,3, and max, and then set up the necessary keystrokes in the Hagstrom card to send them when the tangible (real) autobrakes panel switches are activated in the simpit.  They work just fine and the panel gauge activates perfectly.

HOWEVER..... the braking seems to be WAY too fast.  The 146-200 is already a STOL plane .....but...... my nose is always pressed right up agains thte virtual glass even on "1".  Any suggestions about how I can modify the "power" of the deceleration of this gauge to a rate more appropriate for the smaller 146-200 aircraft?

Appreciate any help.  Thanks.

best,

....................john

EDIT:

Here are the lines added from the panel.cfg file.

//JCB autobrakes addition

[Window07]
file=AutoBrake1.bmp
size_mm=277,168
position=2
visible=0
ident=AUTOBRAKE_PANEL

gauge33=737-400!Autobrake, 020, 020, 100, 50  // original #'s 581, 134

// end of AUTOBRAKE addition

And while we are at it..... where the heck IS the 737 actual autobtrake gauge.  I can't seem to find it.

The 'Autobrake' gauge is within the '737-400.gau' which is a multiple gauge file.

As to modifying the effectiveness, I don't have a clue.  Roll Eyes

Thanks Dave.  I was kinda' thinking that was the case.

So I have half of the situation under control.

Now for the OTHER half.  Anyone?

Hi John.

You can adjust the braking strength in the .air file (use AirEd), in line 1101 primary aerodynamics. This certainly affects the parking brake, although I don't know whether it would affect the wheel brakes too - don't see why it shouldn't.

Martyn,

Thanks for the idea.  I'll dig into it.  Of course if I edit this opart of the 737 comples multi gauge file... it'll change the 737's brakes too  Wink.  But since I never fly it.... probably does not matter.

In the config file of the aircraft... there is a parking brake scalar value.  Will changing THAT change the brake's effectivelness so I don't have to go into the .air file?

And have you ever "published" here on SimV the APU gauge stuff that we were working on?  I am still using the beta version that was done a long while ago.

John,

[brakes]
parking_brake = 1   //available yes or no
toe_brakes_scale = 0.86   // adjusts brake strength  <--try adding/modding this line in your BAe146 'aircraft.cfg'.

The toe_brakes_scale= effects the autobrake as well as the toe brakes.
