A password would be good but then if new members want to get on the server how will they or shall we get the admin to PM all the members the password.

Here is my idea:

Every month, a new passcode should be provided to replace the old passcode of the previous month. This same passcode should then be given to members who have registered before a certain date [which is changed every month] to make sure that the member accessing the server is a regular and not some spam bot lying dormant in the forum. It's pretty much the same concept as that used during the screenshot competition.

What do you say to that?

I think its great , also Due that there is no SERVER we should as first the authoritys here If we can use Simviation's name AS the Name Of the session, we can make a pasword...Anyone should look first if there is no other simviation in freeflight FIRST, if there ain't nobuddy proceed to open a new session ,with the code name (I don't know if accept letters) but the code FOZZER a very popular among us could be use ,for begin , we can change later this pasword. But authority here would have to agree first if we can use this name.

...wouldn't this have to be agreed with Sam first, as he is supplying the Server Address for we Multiplayers to use... Roll Eyes...?

The idea is excellent, as it limits the use of the Server to serious/enthusiast Pilots!

Note that "Worlds Serious Pilots" use this method to discourage would-be spammers...Wink...!

Paul...G-BPLF... Cool...!

This applies mainly to FS 2002/FS 2004 Pilots, as they are still in the majority, in Multiplayer..Wink...!

Well I wouldn't mind if there was a password to connect to Sam's server but I don't understand what goal you want to reach with it. Since it is not a secret password anybody who wants can still join. I mean WSPilots put their passwords in the forum. Everybody can get these even without registering to the forum. Once you have the password you're in and you can do whatever you like.

You don't solve a problem (if that already exists) with it. More effective would be some kind of moderator to watch over the server and it's content. Someone being able to (temporarily) block IP addresses that want to connect. That way you can keep out unwanted guests.

Just my thoughts,

Crash Wink

It's surprising how few "Spammers" get into the WSP Multiplayer Hops because of the Password Option.
Most annoying Spammers/Youngsters/Toe-Rags, can't be bothered with the time and effort to find/gain access to the Passwords.
..and the ones that do, and continue to annoy, get thrown off very quickly by the Organisers....trust me...Wink...!

I regularly fly with them, and all is "Peace and Light" most of the time...Wink... Smiley...!

Ah, ok I'm beginning to understand. You want to PM members a passwords so they can connect to a multiplayer flight hosted by somebody. Not Sam's server? Now that would be a solution to keep potential spammers and other annoying things of out of your flight.

In the "Olden Days" a Member would host a flight by giving his own IP address to certain selected Members, by P.M'ing them shortly before the flight....Wink...!
No-one else would know this address.

It does have problems sometimes though, because the Address is volatile, and likely to change at any time, especially if the Host looses his connection before, or during the flight, and has to re-connect...!

Am I right in thinking that Jared still uses this system for his South American flights...?

Paul...G-BPLF.... Cool...!

You know if you download the latest version of FSHost you can connect to Sams server with FSX.

But Anyway what we would need to do is have someone with FSX on their computer start it up and just leave FSX running with a multiplayer session open. Then we could all join when we please. I know thats how FS-mp is doing it currently.

I don't care how it works, as long as it is passworded and is therefore only available to those who actually want to fly and not dick about all the time.
Alrot, I have FSX too and I would love to fly with the community, great idea!
I would love some ATC practice  Roll Eyes
Oh, by the way, we should arrange to fly at some point, we could use the in-game server.
Cheers,

Mark

I'll host a session tonight 2/28 on the gamespy server from ~8PM ET-~10 PM ET. The session will be in free flight and be named FLMach1. The password will be simv and the tower will be at Orlando International(KMCO). Tower frequency 124.3. Feel free to come over and see how it goes, I don't do ATC so we will need someone to man the tower.

That was boring. No planes. If you want to be serious about this you have to go for it and get it organized.

You didn't give people enough notice. I would have been on if I were home.

I was just saying that it is really easy to do. I will setup another one soon and give more notice on here. I did get some flying time in, so it wasn't like a waste of time. Cool
