There's a whole bunch right here.  Put "Waikato" in the SimV search engine.  It's a great carrier, locates off New Zealand and easy to get to.  There are others right here also, sorry I don't have time to be more specific, but wait for other help also.

Try fs-shipyards.org

Lots of CVN's and other carrier stuff there.

Are you looking for a landable or driveable one?  Because I believe we have both here...look under Waikato like he said and you'll find a nice landable one Wink.

They're just active scenery objects.  But I'm not sure what you mean by "replacing their model with one you can fly".  What do you mean?  Just start a flight and start flying...don't worry about them Wink.

no because they are not AI and are part of the aircraft carrier mesh, you can't change the model.  Also, there are other carriers around, keep looking

Sooner -

For FS 2004, the best by far (my opinion) is "cv_74.zip", a working model of USS JOHN C.STENNIS (CVN74).  Clasassified as a "scenery add-on", it is VERY accurate visually, has, a "hard deck" that can be used for takeoffs and landings ("fly-on" Touch and goes and "deck - rolls" for takeoff) and can be upgraded for cat shots and arrested landings with an additional freeware package called "rcbco-20.zip".  Both can be found at various FS websites.

Depending on your level of experience, it may be best to start with the first file, CVN74 for T&G and deck rolls. Then add on the cat/trap features after you have studied the info in the rcbco-20 download - it is a little sophisticated for a beginner, because it requires some changes to the panel.cfg and aircraft.cfg files to make the cat/trap features work. Also, for landings, you need a plane with a tailhook - actually modeled in, or a fake job added into the aircraft.cfg file - that will work also.

I have the ALPHA T-28 series payware, which has the Carrier-capable T-28C version with an operating tailhook; it is excellent in all respects and works well on CVN74.  In real life it couldn't be catapulted (no bridle or launch bar hookup provisions), but the rcbco-20 will let you take a cat shot in anything you want to  (I have to laugh - a C172 would become a ball of tinfoil in real life!!)

The only bitch I have is that it is all titled and referred to as "STENNIS CV_74" - for Navy vets, that's kinda an insult, because the ship officially is USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN74); she's a nuke, and that is her commissioned name.

Good luck -

Mike

if you have no problem with framerates wen sliders are at full try the transload virtual airlines carrier pack. there are something like 10 different carrier locations with true AI. they are a little heavy on the frames though. Each carrier has a different load of planes on it.

by the way, if you don't want to mess with rcbo 20, find 3wire here on simv, you don't need to change anything in the aircraft.cfg or panel.cfg.

yes framerates are a huge problem for me, even on relatively low display settings. Sad

are any planes or scenery removed on the lower settings?

the ai will probably be removed if you have that turned down, and that is what causes the framerate hit.
