I have been running the DMZ host since I can remember, is it less secure than having a router with closed ports? Yes but it is nothing worse than the millions that are connected directly to the modem itself. Like I said I FOUGHT with my router, wasted 6+ hours with tech support to get ports to open. With that much time spent I could have reformated about 10 times. Stay away from the pr0n, shady download sites, and spam emails and you will never have a problem. You can't just get a virus by just being on the internet.
