Bitmap files come in two varieties: normal (24 bit) and extended (32 bit).  Your computer is looking for 24 bit.  The Raptor files are 32 bit so it won't open them.

You need to download DXTBMP.EXE, it's on this site and several others as well (do a Google search).  It's free.  Use that to open each bitmap, then save it as a 24 bit image (make sure you're working on a copy, not the original).  You can then open it and work on it happily.  When you're finished, use DXTBMP.EXE again and save it as an extended bitmap which converts it back to a 32 bit image.
