OK, just a small question. I didn't know that Gmax was on the FS2004 disk until now (aren't i smart
)
I have already downloaded it from TurboSquid.com and started using it. About an hour later, when I was trying to figure out how to export files into something that FS2004 could use, I found out it it already on the disk and that I did not need to download it. But, now I want to exort something, and I cannot find the right plugin in the FS2004 directory (I was just reading around in this:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1037563242/15
and other tutorials). Is the install file on the FS2004 disk different from the one I downloaded? (They are both verion 1.2)
Need help!

Okay - you're reading off an old post in the FS2002 forum.
FOr FS2002, there were two versions - FS2002 standard and Pro. The Pro version included gmax and the gamepack.
The latest version of gmax is 1.2, so you have no problem there.
If you haven't already, you need to dowload and install the gmax SDK/Gamepack from the Microsoft FS2004
downloads site.
.
WHen installed correctly, that will give you the export to flightsim model option.

OK, I have it installed and I just exported my test project (even though it was no where NEAR ready to be exported). Just a question - in a specific aircraft's folder in FS9 what is the .air file and do I need it to put a plane in FS9?
EDIT - Let me rephrase that. What program(s) can I use (if they exist) to create and/or edit .air and .cfg files for planes that I create for FS2004? (I'm the biggest n00b in the universe!!
)

You have a long way to go, my friend. But don't worry. With a little dedication, you'll do just fine.

The .air file gives the model it's specific flight characteristics, for example singe engine prop, or jet engine, helicopter etc. The .cfg file is where you will do most of your performance traits editing, you use .air files to distinguish the aircraft's proffered flying qualities, which can always be swapped with a similar aircraft. For example, switching a 737-200 air file with a 737-700, they are different aircraft but share similar traits, two jet engines located under the wing etc. For designing models, you can use several programs, i.e. Gmax, 3dsmax or FSDS. Your on the right track with questions.
The best place, where you can teach yourself (which is best to do) is here,
