It seems some people still have problems getting their heads round this. Let me try to explain how it works.
It's exactly the same principle as posting a link to the image like
This is the code for the above link:
Code:
[url=http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/Img_5802ashm.jpg] Click Here[/url]
but using a smaller version of the image (the thumbnail) instead of the words like this:
First you need to upload your full-sized images & smaller thumbnails in the usual way. It helps if the thumbnails have the same file prefix as their full-sized counterparts. I've uploaded 4 sets of images like this.
The first one is a full-sized image so copy the URL but without the brackets&pasteitintoyourtopiclikethis.--->
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/IMG_2860shm.jpgThesecondimageisthethumbnai...
.
Code:
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/IMG_2860shm.jpg][img]http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/IMG_2860shm_t.jpg[/img] Nowhighlightthewholething(dragthemouseacrossthetext)&thenclickontheInsertHyperlinkicononthetoolbarabove.Voila!
[img]http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/IMG_2860shm_t.jpg
Repeat the above procedure for the other images + thumbs..
:
:
:
I created the thumbs using the automatic feature in IrfanView. Piece of cake.

Found a new way to show of your photographs?
Nice little tutorial, Dough. I'm sure that it will come in handy for some people. Thanks for your contribution to StudioV.
I have one thing to point out:
The filenames of thumbnails don't end on "_t" by default. You gave them their name before uploading and they will still have that name!

Ah, you saw through my cunning plan*.

They do if you use the automatic IrfanView feature.
From IrfanView click File/Thumbnails.
Navigate to the location of your full-sized images & open the folder. The images will display as thumbnails.
(You can adjust the size of the thumbs from "Options/Set thumbnail options". MIne are 200x200 pixels.)
Then select the images you want to post & create thumbnails for. Click "File/Save selected thumbs as single images".
The selected thumbnails will automatically be saved to the same folder as your full-sized images complete with the _t extension..
All you need to do now is upload the images & corresponding thumbs.
*I leave the screenies to you chaps.

What a pleasant surprise Hagar. Your guidance and input is always appreciated, regardless of where it shows up at the V.

Thanks Hagar,
the way I did mine was as per Clips info.
Really do not need to show the small icons, just the small red cross in a square is OK for me.
Clicking the crosses on my pc and of some friends works fine, the big fotos show up.
Did you try mine, did they work on your PC?
Thanks luke

If you're ok with red crosses, why not just give the link?

Just the link to your uploaded picture without the image tags ([img]), and yes, it will be clickable.
Example: here's a link to my avatar:

and why not if it works, thank you Sytse
But wonder why the crosses are clickable on my PC and to some friends, and yet not on yours?

Ah, I get it now.
Clicking the red cross works but I can't see the thumbnail. As Sytse points out, you might just as well post the links & done with. You could post the smaller images in the topic without a link. It would save an awful lot of messing around. IMHO

I can click on the red crosses and then the image shows up, so it works. It's just more work than giving the link and it looks stupid IMHO.
