A top quality working heli shot netted ENO the coveted Judge’s position for this week’s competition…..:
“AFTER DARK”
Eno’s throwing up a real challenge to you screenshooters out there:
“I'm looking for shots in the dark, NOT nice sunrises or sunsets. Show your aircraft and scenery at its best during the hours of darkness.
Shoot for the moon, aim for the stars. Does that glow from the terminal create a mood? Do those shadows add to the sinister nature of the growing storm? Should we be praying for daylight? The mood is up to you!!”
Here’s an illustrative shot by Judge Eno!
THIS WEEK'S RULES
1. The subject is shots after dark, no day, sunset or sunrise shots allowed.
2. It can be from inside or outside the plane.
3. There can be payware or freeware in the shots, FS any version, and it can be edited too. BUT NO CUTTING OUT AND PASTING - the screenshot should remain the same - you can change colours, blur the shot, whatever - but no pasting other planes in, or pasting the plane on a new background. Why? Only a few people know how to do this.... and the results often whip the werewolf with a rubber hose - this contest is open to everyone, not just photoshop pro's
4. You nominate one shot only, as a thumbnail of about 5 kb. It can be yours, or someone else's. Post it in this thread, below.
DEADLINE IS 10 PM GMT ON SATURDAY. The judge will choose which shot is best and tell KRIGL on Sat or Sunday. KRIGL will announce the winner Sunday evening, or as soon as possible.
THE WINNER IS THE NEXT JUDGE!
5. The winner should decide on the next competition, and send KRIGL one pic plus a short text to describe the competition and what they are looking for. Also send another couple of your best shots. This should be done asap… Krigl doesn’t like chasing people…
Krigl will start the new competition on Monday night if he can, so you have 5 evenings to produce your entry.
6. This is for fun, so just post whatever seems to you to fit the rules. In the spirit of StudioV, we're all aviation and aviation screenie fans, and friends, and so just about everything goes. Rules are secondary, and no questions needed. Eno will decide on Saturday or Sunday which he likes best, and then the comp will go on.....
It might be an idea to check out his work, see what he likes....
TWO 'IMPORTANT' NOTES
A. Please note: the winning picture will NOT go into the gallery, unless it's judged by the gallery team to be exceptional, so that is not the prize and don't be disappointed if it doesn't get in. The point is that you get to be the judge!!!
B. Winners need to send Krigl the material for the new competition by early Monday night (say 9:00 GMT). If they do not, Krigl will be the judge and make a competition himself. And that would be boring wouldn't it. This is so the comp becomes regular and dependable!
So there you have it. Vampires, werewolves and simmers, all of us are creatures of darkness, flying our dreams and in our dreams after dark. Let’s see just how dark you can get!

I'm not quite clear about the thumbnail bit (#4). We should post a thumbnail of the shot in this thread, not the shot itself? Should the thumbnail be clickable and link to the full size version? What size should the thumbnail be?

FridayChild, you post a clickable thumbnail linked to your bigger screenshot as a reply in this thread. Any size thumbnail, say 150 x 150. There's a click/thumbnail tutorial as a sticky at the top of the Studio if you need it.

Nearly forgot about this one...here's my entry, all is a raw shot (apart from a slight brightness increase, I'm presuming that's allowed as editing is OK?
)

Some very cool shots in here now, and still Friday and early Saturday evening to go.... Eno should have a good crop to judge!
Eno mentioned no change to the posted rules, so any editing is allowed except for composites.....(cut and paste)

A bit of an older shot, but I thought it looks pretty good. All I did to edit it was just removing a few weird red spots near the moon

Although I'm flattered, please refrain from "xxxx has won" comments. I don't like it when I see it about others, and I'd be hypocritical if I wanted it said about me.
Remember Eno is the judge!

Some seriously good dark matter here, I'm surprised, in most of them it's easy to see the subject etc. Very nice indeed. The deadline has passed now, so I'm looking forward to hearing from Eno about the winner. Hopefully I'll be able to post it tomorrow

Just checked it out, and yes, I agree..... why don't you nominate it for the gallery? A new 'Gates' thread will be opening soon.
The point of the JC comp is the winner gets to pick what THEY like best, though. Reasons and tastes differ.....

Yep, that's why I said "my personal favourite". And let me express that, because at this pace I seriously doubt I will ever make it to the judge's chair!
