Just use an XP sound driver. If you have AC97 I know they have a Vista driver, but before they did, my XP drivers did just fine.

Which version of Vista are you useing? Ever since 5600 (RC1) you have been able to go back and acess your XP stuff. Beta 2 Hated all audio drivers from everyone.

So if your useing RC1 RC2 RTM600 or a actual release copy you should be fine.

Hmm thats really weird. My AC97 works just fine, and hasn't crashed once. You may want to uninstall the driver, defragment, and do an error check on your disk. Then reinstall the driver and do the same process. You may have a botched install of Vista which is very possible.
