Hello everyone.  I’ve been viewing forums here for several months and I’ve finally decided to jump in.  My question is about missions.  The mission builder for CFS2 has been given lots of praise for a while now.  I’ve created quite a few missions myself and would like to upload them.  I’m concerned about quality.  What is considered a good quality mission these days?  I’ve run several of my missions through the gauntlet and the logic seems to be holding up.  I did a search on the subject with limited results.  I don’t want to upload a “boring” mission.   Your thoughts  Smiley

I think people are looking for diverse missions with multiple results now days. But I would not worry about it. Some times simplicity is the best route. If you enjoy them its a good chance so would I.Just upload them and participate with whatever talent you may posses.

Welcome and I hope to hear from you often!

PS the more you use the Mision Builder the better you will get in makig them.

Hello Star. For myself, and I imagine quite a few others, I prefer historically based missions including factual scenarios from those missions. Also, it need not be so complex that frame rates suffer. Just my 2¢, probably have to give change back.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  Simplicity has its advantages.  I have to admit that I've pushed the envelope with triggers and events a couple of times.  Some day I'll learn not to use so many bells and whistles simply because they're availble.

It's funny how you should mention history, Mushroom.  Most of my missions are based on historical accounts.  Many of them are a little too challenging for me though which is why I'm trying to tweak them a bit.  There's nothing more frustrating than being shot down before you reach your assigned target.   Sad

Mushroom_Farmer and James have given you about the best advice I've ever heard on the subject.

- Don't overstuff them with fluff that kills framerates.
- Keep it fairly simple.
- Make it challenging, but not impossible.
- Base them, at least loosely, on some real situation.  But remember that 'playability' takes precedence over accuracy.

I look at it this way: If you enjoy flying the missions, then there's a pretty good chance that a lot of other people will too.

I don't sit with a history book, checking whether other people's missions are historically accurate, I just fly the mission if the subject matter interests me.

I think the most important thing is to capture the flavour of the times.

IndioBlack I agree with you totaly. All they need to be is Historicaly plausable within the scope of history but not 100% accurate.
