Probably tried to save a few $$$ by installing a longer engine instead of a short PT-6...
But he can fly in Africa whitout having to worry about engine replacement (It's the same powerplant that the L410 uses)

I've seen a couple of turbine conversions of the Lancair for sale online.  Those plans were ungodly fast for a piston engine plane, I can't imagine one with a turbine.  Most of the ones I've seen for sale list around $550-$600 thousand dollars.

1400 mile range seems improbable.  It has such a small fuel capacity from what I've noticed.  Maybe I'm wrong, maybe fueling one just like it (and flying one similar to it) doesn't count for much but wouldn't it have to carry about 125 gallons to reach 1400 miles?  Looking at the wing area (where the tanks are) its not very large.  But, maybe I'm wrong.

Anyways, when fully loaded with fuel, it doesn't have the hauling capacity that I would want in a plane,  and its a Walter and not a P&W.

Could there have been extra tanks added in the fuse? Possibly behind/in the place of the baggage compartment.

I don't remember if there is, but still- in place of the baggage compartment?  WHERE DO I PUT THE BEER?

Oh, I do, its just that after the adrenaline wears off and the fatigue sets in (about 2:00 am), other people's doctoral dissertations and abstracts for their Master's papers begin to make very little, if any, sense.

Thats why I picked psychology, much more interesting articles.

I'm taking an anthropology course, and I can't keep my eyes open while reading them.  It hurts my brain just thinking about it.

I didn't have a choice about this paper. Have to take, and pass English 3 in high school. Sad My teacher told us our paper had to be on American Lit, so I chose imagery in Poe's "Cask of Amontillado." I hate it, but its the topic I like the most, and arguing with my teacher is pointless: he has a Ph. D, is an associate professor of English at Rowan University, and has taught me almost everything I know about how to write. My grades on papers went from 65-75% in English 1 and 2 to 85-95% in his class.

Well who am I to talk.  I just stayed up untill 3am working on an assignment I didn't realize was due untill 10pm the night before.

Its a pretty neat idea but I would rather have a Columbia 400 if I had 500k to drop on a plane. I wonder what the operating costs are per hour on a turbo prop lancair compared to a Columbia 400 because at the FBO that I work at 100LL is well over 4 bucks and Jet A is around 3.70 a gallon.
