Lalande system....    The Serenity, or just Ship, as Commander Barret  knew it, was quite a sight as he approached in his small recon/strike craft. A good meal and sleep awaited him.

...

Once they were safely inside, Ship began the slow process of accelerating to clear the last vestiges of Domus’s thin atmosphere, before pulling away from the Lalande system and heading back home to Aerth.

...

Still accelerating through system space, Ship prepared for the long cruise through the interstellar gulf. The stasis chamber is ready, Commander Barret. Would you like us to go straight back, or take the Einsteinian route – that should get us back just a couple of days after we left.

We’ll go straight. My wife would kill me otherwise, she was looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet for a few years…. And please, no dreams. Wake me up as we approach Aerth.

Ship waited for Barret to drop off in the cozy cubicle, then uploaded the latest content from his consciousness and transmitted it forwards to Aerth, just in case something should go wrong. While capable of feeling boredom, Ship opted to disable this function for the lengthy voyage ahead. Even at their high speeds, 12 light years still took ages….

...

To Commander Barret it seemed like a good night’s rest – 30 years had passed when he woke up to the smell of freshly prepared coffee. Down below them lay Aerth, layered with cloud, and the vast city of New Tokyo.

...

Spiralling down, Barret drank his brew and gazed out the window at the cloud deck rising up to meet him, welcoming him
home as a soldier for the last time.

...

To be continued....

Cheers for looking in at my lunatic musings  Cheesy

Great set again Krigl.  Just curious, which sim is this and where are you finding these aircraft?

Gabe, I believe this is ACOF, but I could be wrong.  As for the aircraft, the SA-43 Hammerhead from Space: Above and Beyond can be found profusely at www.flightsim.com (sorry mods, don't think it exists at the V).  As for Serenity (or a variant on the Firefly spacecraft), I do believe it can be found at http://www.fscorner.com/, a model by Ian Lawrence.

Thanks very much gents!

Thanks for the pointers, Locke! I'll have to check out FSCorner, never been there before. I found both of the spaceplanes close together on FSDome, on page 4 or 5 of the aircraft section. You have to scroll down... and keep your firewall up Roll Eyes
I don't know what TV shows they are from, I don't watch TV. I just like the designs...

What sim is it? Yep, ACOF - good 'ol FS9. Don't have FSX yet...

Sky from Flight Environment, and just a little bit of editing to increase saturation, light source, sharpness etc.
I tried to add glowing lights and engines too... wowee!!! Smiley

3rd installment coming soon  Smiley

"Firefly" is well worth the DVD import. Really!
