After chronic redesign and much hair pulling... I've made the first
major step towards my simpit.
I finished the "cut list" for all the major parts and pieces. The cut list will shortly be in the hands of a buddy who has promised to make me a "semi kit" of all the major pieces. Living in an apartment this is pretty much the only way that the project would get done, major carpentry really isn't all that possible in a rental!
The seat is going to be a version of the airliner crew seat for flightsim.com:
http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/howto/727seat.htmThe basic shell is a heavily modified version of the 'pit here:
http://www.simprojects.nl/Simpit%20description.htmMy pit is going to be wider, with wider side sponsons to allow for Goflight modules and HOTAS installation. The sponsons will also be full length and include sidewalls to give a "semi-enclosed" feel to the pit. The front end will be more angular and incorporate a glareshield for more realism.
Pics to follow once construction starts. Funds are rather tight so there will be limited functionality to start, but once I have the pit it's easier to add stuff in.
Wish me luck!
