Did I miss something in childhood Sean ?
......don't you steer a tricycle by the handlebars and provide motive power with your feet ?
......when you steer to the right - gee, the left hand pushes, not the right hand ?.......
I didn't say you
steer
a tricycle with your feet, I said when you turn a tricycle, the opposite foot moves forward.
And the opposite hand moves as much as the hand inside the turn....at any rate, picturing it that way always helped me feel comfortable coordinating turns in airplanes that are rigged "backwards" .
Quote:
Now to really make your head spin.......when you yaw to the right with a plane, the nose moves right, the tail moves left, the right wingtip moves back and the left wing moves forward...all rotating around the center of the aircraft.........yet they have us make a rudder input with the pedals going in a counter rotative motion ?.......making your head hurt yet ?........
I hope this is all being taken in good fun, but the logical reality of it is absurd.......
Well, your first mistake here is thinking too much. I recommend as little thinking as possible...
Maybe it's just me, but I don't find it odd at all (the rudder business).
But as you said, the bottom line is that we learn to do what's needed.

I guess I'm lucky; I don't find the rudder pedals movement counterintuitive at all. Besides, when I steer my bike, I don't feel like I'm pushing the handlebar with my right hand in order turn to the left, but rather like I'm turning the handlebar to the left, which is perfectly intuitive to me.

So then, in referring to your bike, why do your feet have to do the opposite in a plane, compared to what you do to steer your bike with your hands ?.........sit on a chair and go throught the motions of steering each way relative to each one (plane with feet and and bike with hands.........Move both feet and then both hands, as you would normally, to turn right and then left............get it now ?

I don't know what to say... I don't have to think about that, it just comes natural.
