See even he has.

He was less specific though, and Qantas have more 737s than BA ever had Concordes... Wink

Wells they didn't have many Concorde's beacuse they cost around 2-5 BILLION POUNDS when a boeing 737 costs around 20 MILLION POUNDS

Bit of a diffrence.

Well, yes. That has nothing do do with the discussion really though. If (hypothetically) someone wanted to screw someone's career up, there are a lot more 737 pilots to hide amongst than Concorde pilots (fot the sake of this discussion). It's not nice being dropped in it, and it's not a pleasant feeling when you accidentally drop someone in it either, particularly in the world of professional aviating, which is why occasionally the finer details of things are sometimes best kept to oneself. Dude, Concordes don't cost 4 Billion to 10 Billion $ USD. I'd be surprised if they surpassed 110 million $ USD or 56 Million Pounds. Oh, wait, they're used, better drop that price by 1/3rd.

A new 737 runs for 24 Million pounds, to 41 Million pounds for the Boeing 737-600 and Boeing 737-900ER respectively.

Actually Woody my fellow westcountry'un, thats not quite right:

From British Airways themselves: http://www.britishairways.com/concorde/faq.html#6

Did the British Government give Concorde to British Airways for one pound UK sterling?
Claims that we paid GBP1.00 (UK Sterling) for the Concorde fleet or that it was given in trust are wrong.
British Airways predecessors paid the manufacturers more than GBP155 million for the Concorde fleet (source:1977/78 Report and Accounts) and over the following 27 years of operation British Airways has invested more than GBP1 billion in the fleet.

The Concorde book value was written down to nil in 1979 and subsequent capital investments to 1983 were also written off to nil. (source: 1987 Prospectus on British Airways privatisation)

In March 1984 the government ended its involvement with Concorde when British Airways assumed full responsibility for Concorde support costs. British Airways Board paid GBP16.5 million to acquire the government's stock of spare parts and was released from the profit share scheme under which the government collected 80 per cent of Concorde operating surpluses.

In 1987 the government privatised British Airways and collected more than GBP900 million for selling its interest in the airline, including Concorde.

What about the fact that the French had serviced the gear on that particular night and had not fitted the axle spacer between the wheels and that  main wheel assembly shook themselves to death. There is a whole lot more to this story than a small bit of metal on the runway.
Took of with the wind
Took of overloaded
Engineer shut down an engine 20 kts below safe operating speed without consent of the captain.
Soot marks on the runway well before the metal strip was found.
And Air France in the middle of being privitised, but as Charlie has pointed out, going a little off topic now.

-Boeing 737-200 on the ground

Does the front seat of an A-4, A-6, A-3 or F-4, looking at the centerline of a Carrier, worth mentioning??  However, Those were the days of "steam guages" - I would have to admit that I would have some problems interpreting the new "Video Pong" displays in todays jetliners!
