My freind, some suggestions on this one.
If i go on carrier, the carrier engine sound just clicking. If i fire a rocket, the sound just clicking.
This has to do with my framerates when it is over 50. I am not able to set a lower in the game. It is running at 80 and up.
Have changed the wav files, no luck. Have asked MS. They have never heard something like that. The only advice i got, was to buy a new copy. Ofcource.
Have you experienced some thing like this.
Cheers Kurt

Yes my friend I had that proplem before. My problem was was with a World war one engine sound. After a few minutes of flying with my P38 the engines sound used to change to the earlier World war one prop sound. I cannot tell how annoying that was to me. The only way I was able to fix it was by going one by one of my engine sound in my Sound Folder and listen each one ontil I found the culprit one and deleted it.It quite tedious and boring but that was the only way I was able to fix the problem.

The other way is to reinstall CFS2 and upgrade the the sound folder to what you have it now. Make sure its working properly after upgrading it. Then replacing the original Sound with the new upgraded Sound folder.

Thats why I alway say to backup every thing for easy fixes to camplex problems.

I reread your question again and realize that I have never encounter such a problem. The only suggestion I have is for you to go inside the program itself to advance setting and decrease the projected Frame rate to lower setting like 35 to 30. Maybe Hadgar or some else can help out. Maybe lower the setting to from 6 to 4. Try different setting and see if any of them works.

Uh, James. I've had this problem for a very long time. Have reinstalled cfs2 at least 4-5 times. Have copied the high-end sound folder more than once, and even tried the low-end with no succes. Have tested other wav files from different sources. Forgot to mention it also concern the rain sound, so it seems like it's outside/ai sounds. No prob with any enginesound.

My fps stands put at 79 no matter what i set it to ingame, and i see in views it jumps to about 200, then go back.
I've manage with some very high tex areas and a lot of planes, to get fps down to around 50, then everythings seems ok.

I think you are just like me on these matters. If something is not working correctly, i just keep on going untill i find what's wrong. But this one is s...!

About the manual. If i had two i'll gladly send you one. And as i said in cfs2 manual thread, i simply don't know where to get it. If MS were a smaller company, i think they would be happy to help. Now you might have to go thru hundreds of people, before you find one that knows what you are talking about.

Tho, it dosn't cost anything to try them.
Cheers

"Hagar I just hope we have not been fool."

James, what do you mean by this? I read it as you think i'm trying to fool someone, or mayby i got that wrong. I hope i got it wrong.
I would like to make a sound sample of the rain, but having difficulties to find out how, then i would send it as a mail.

About the manual, i dont either got the fs9, in my hurry, though it was the cfs2 manual. Sorry.

I too read this wrong, i thought he was having problems with, well having real nice framerates.... and then there was a problem with the sounds?

can't suggest anything for the frame rates

As for the sounds i have had something similar, every time i start on a carrier i get a burst of abnormal sounds that disapears after a second, sounds like torpedoes, and air raid sirens?

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....&&&&&&&&&&                        The GMax effect... The GMax effect

James007. I send you a mail with a poor, very poor, sound file of my rain in cfs2. At least i was expecting an answer, either by mail or in this forum, that you recieved it. I have heard nothing, therefore i assume, you have not got it?
Could you verify this, please.

Frame rate and sound can be affected by the capabilities of your graphics card, processor, RAM capacity, your OS version and a combination of those and other factors... but I assume you're having problems only with CFS2?

Yes sir.
Only those outside sounds in cfs2.
As i can see in fs9 and fsx topics, i'm very lucky with the setup on my "low-end" pc. Runing both extremely good.
Good cooling on the iceq video card, and a open tower?
Have tested my cfs2 cd's on a another pc. No problems!
Maybe you're right. Has to get a very low end pc to run my cfs2. But is this not to turn every thing 180 deg around? Regarding every topics and threads i've seen about flightsims.

Which OS and what are your default sound settings (who opens them -- especially .wav).

I've frequently had more than one sound program on my computers; on occasion, the wrong program was unwittingly given priority control over certain sound files. Once I went deaf: I flew in silence. Other times I had choppy or occasional muted sounds when two programs fought to maintain access.

Kilotango I have been very busy lately. I"am sorry for not answering your question before. No I have not received your E-mail. My question to you is this. Is your PC a original from the Manufacture or is it a put together by you or your friends. This might make a difference since the PC you may have put together the programs installed may not be as compatible with each other as a original PC from the store. You are probably are having Sound program compatability problems.

James, though you were busy.

I allways build my own pc, then i get what i want. Also build for others, and by now the numbers reach about 25.

You might be right in your thinking, but as my onboard sound gives the same result, i doubt it a little! But you can very well be right that is has to do with my machine, but, obviously, others have had probs too with the sound in cfs2 but not similar.

As i said, i'll do a check, and if i find something, i'll be back. Tho, i don't think i'll find something. As for a long time now, i just keep my ship and rocketlp wav as backup. I have some missions in very heavy rain, and it feels empty to cut off the precip when the rain is falling down outside. Dont't you think?

Your mail adr. is not the one you posted here then, but thats ok. We all need some privacy.

Kilotango have you tried FS9 or CFS3 replacement equivalent sounds. I know CFS3 sound do work in CFS2 and I think FS9 sound also work. Remember to backup everything. Good luck!
