Hi to all,

This is my first Post here.
I am working on a Gmax 707 for the FSX. At the moment I have two questions. I want to give a metalic shine to my fuselage. Is there anyone who knows? When I export my model, most of the polygons of the VC doesn't appear (nearly all the seats, levers in the cockpit, the pilots etc). I know that they export because of the size of the .mdl file. This problem wasn't exist when I hadn't include the seats (many polys...).

For the first part, metallic aircraft are done by utilizing the alpha channel of the textures.  Also, use "metal" when selecting a type of surface for the material you apply.

As for the other part, can you show us a pic?  I think it might be a mirroring issue, but I can't be sure unless I see it.

Wait, so you can't see ANYTHING in the VC?  I bet you're exporting wrong.  I'm not sure about FSX, though, since it uses a new VC system than FS9 or its predecessors.  Felix, you got anything on this?  How exactly does the VC issue work in FSX?

It might be that you have to create two distinct models: one for the exterior and one for the interior.  That's what I remember from reading things written by others.

EDIT: and that doesn't look much like a 707.  You might want to add some wings and stuff . . . Wink Cheesy

You have to have seperate MDLs. Link all parts (Parent or single)to a part called "exterior" or "interior"(I use a box and delete all dots except one,then I center it to coords 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 ) .The Model cfg.  MUST have this i.e....

[models]
normal=your model name here
interior=your model name here_Interior

It works for me.I hope this helps!

Hi,

To say the truth Locke I export it as a FS2004 aircraft and then I put it in FSX. By the way Aceronzo can you tell me how exactly to install the files from SDK in Gmax to make possible the exporting for FSX aircrafts? I have downloaded the update of SDK. Cool

Panais,
I'm no expert but i'll give it a try.Must have the SDK update.Read the "Using Modeling Tools.html". Make sure you have the Gmax that came with FSX installed(besure to Paste the FSX_Gmax Icon to your desktop,FS2004 gmax won't have all the new features for FSX.You must also have "Microsoft ® .NET Framework Version 2.0" installed.Read all the Readmes and html's(on what you are going to be building at that time).A lot of trial and error!After you make your first test box,click on "FStools"(sometimes I have to open the scripts to activate it)then click on "Lod and Guid Tools",then click "create new guid for this file"(NOTE:you only have to click on this ONCE for every NEW FILE(not everytime you open the same file).It will have a name in it already.Exporting is a matter of clicking on the FSX_mdl in the rollout(same as FS2004)If you forgot the Guid it will tell you.No midddleman here so it will show errors.I hope this helps you.I'm not an expert but it is working very well for me.I have all my SDKs in the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK" folder in the "Microsoft Games" Folder.
Best Regards,
Ronnie
