Greetings,

Due to a very low budget, and the need to feel more like I am interacting with an airplane, I setup a dual monitor set, one atop the other, the bottom for the instrument panel I made with Panel Studio software.

I put formica doors on a 70"s TV stand and bought the Hagstron Electronics KE USB 36 module and accompanying break out board.

This is Not the vision I had, but the journey starts with the first step.

So, The Hagstrom line are keyboard emulators, FSPUIC doesn't play well with this, so I need to add some common functions to the FS 2002 simulator knee pad.      How does one put in key commands for Beacon Lights - Taxi Lights, and Nav lights so the switches in my panel can turn them on/off.

I really hate using the keyboard, though I still need it to set up flights etc.  But not for flying.

Can anyone provide a friendly builder with this?

Much appreciated.

cwlowe,

Yup.... the journey starts simple....and gets more complex over time.  Best approach.

What do you mean that FSUIPC does not play nice with the KE26?  With my KE72 FSUIPC and WideFS coexist nicely.  As far as I know... there should be NO interaction.

Are you just having issues programming the ini file for the KE36?  Or are you having issues programming the KE36 to cause FSUIPC assigned functions to work?

I THINK stuff like beacon lights, landing lights and so on have keypress assignments that can be set up in the sim's "Settings" screen; been a while since I programmed the Hagstrom card.  Once you assign a keypress to a function in there... you then assign a specific hardware switch to send a specific keypress sequence upon "make" and upon "break" in the Hagstrom software that m,atches the one in "Settings".  Then you load that ini file assignment data into the Hagstrom board...... and it works.

To get a FSUIPC generated keypress function to work....... FIRST you have to assign a distinct keypress sequence in FSUIPC to cause a specific action that is a function on the pull down list.  You do this in the "Keys" section of the FSUIPC menu.  Then you set up the Hagstrom programming the same way as above.  To uses this you have to have the payware registered version of FSUIPC.

Hope this is helpful.  Let me know if it isn't.

best,

To begin with, the KNEEBOARD shows more assignments in 2002 than the settings show.

The letters  L  and O  for whatever reason aren't being accepted by the KE 36 USB load commmand in the drop down file.    I have no problems with "making the ini file as the USB 36 software does all the work,  great  for me.

I want to add to the 2002 settings list those commands found  in the "kneeboard" in order to replace the commands with my own but unfourtanately I cannot get the USB card to accept Ctrl Shift L for the nav lights etc.  Nav, Taxi and Becon are found ONLY on the knee board.

I think I should have bought the KE 72 first, that has more software abilities than the other modules.

Live and learn ... I need another card anyway as I have more commands than 36 inputs.

Thanks for your time, it really is appreciated.
