Heya.. been in the mood to try another one. I always loved TopGun, not for it'S authenticity nor Tom Cruise but the great flying sequences and, of cause, the Tomcat!
Well, about time to show that bird's pure power...
Hope you like it. I created it from a normal daylight shot to have enough details left for working on highlights. I applied the same technique as in the Beaver & FedEx shot to create the glow of the AB and finished it off with some subtle heatblur. Final touch were the position lights. Therefore I dodged the parts where the lights sit and then blended over a layer with the according color as dots in the right places.
Here is the original shot (high compression and not sharpened after resize though):
btw: I am owner of the AlphaSim BigE (obviously) and ActiveSky6. Whenever I take off from one of the carrier positions I get an overcast sky with low vis.. even if I set to fixed weather, as soon as AS takes command again Im in the soup
Anyone recognized that too?

I can give you the 1600x1200 raw shot and you try your hands on it
I'll be there and help where I can if needed. Maybe go through it step by step in the simviation studioV workshop.

I would have put in a whole lot more heat blur. Amazing pic as it is though. Outstanding edit!

Thank you gentlemen!
Thanks for recommending it for the gallery, glad you like it.
Regarding more heatblur Sytse, I decided for a more subtle heatblur as none of the photos i looked at had extensive heatblur showing. Maybe because it'S too fast. The hot air is pushed out in one almsot solid "beam" and it all happens too fast to allow the hot air to dispense into the air. Well at least that's my impression of it. Im happy that Splat as eye victim likes it. Adds a lot to the proudness when insiders articulate their appreciation! HAts off!

LOL, I can almost feel the heat from those burners....and Lord knows I've been burned many after catching myself on the wrong end of a waiting Tomcat.
I absolutly love this edit 9thSimplex...I would love to emulate something like this shot for a forum signature.
