I just found out that during game play you take a snappshot by pressing the 'print scrn' button. My question is this.. where do the pics go because I can't find them on my puter. Also is there an online manual for fsx that I can download? Any help would be appreciated

They're saved to the Clipboard. To retrieve them open a graphics editor (MS Paint, IrfanView or whatever) & paste them into it. There are several freeware automatic screen-grab utilities that will do this for you. Do a search for GrabClipSave or MultiGrab.

#1 - THe easier way would be to press the "V"  key.  You can then see your screenshots from the "Pilot Records"  section of FS-X (click right below multiplayer).   The screenshots are saved to your  C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files folder.

#2 - When you press "PrtScrn"  to capture a screen, it goes into your Windows "clipboard".   At that point, you have to paste it to a graphics program, otherwise you probably will lose it next time you capture or copy anything.

#3 - As to an online manual, why?  The "Learning Center"  has all the manuals you need for FS-X.

Give FRAPS a try... Smiley It's basic version is free, but you can then register to get extra functions...

A very long time since I've done it that way, but is it not "Alt+PrintSrn"?

Press Print Scrn then open MS Paint or similar graphics editor & press Ctrl + V (Edit/Paste) to retrieve the image from the Clipboard. Then save the image before taking any more. Doing it this way you can only take one shot at a time. If you take another shot or copy any files or text afterwards you will lose the original shot. If you wish to take multiple screenshots use the V key which works in FSX only. I'm not sure how well this works & it might save the shots only in BMP format. The best method might be to use a Screengrab utility. Several have been mentioned in this thread but my trusty old favourite is MultiGrab.

As I'm running in 1024x768 resolution, the FS-X screen grabs are coming in as 3Meg *.bmp files.....   a separate screen grabbing utility may be better, and especially so for staged shots!

As for the "Learning Center" Manuals - as always, they're good enough to get a person started in the basics of FS, but for getting the most of it there are better websites... :

I use Windows XP Pro W/SP2. When I use the screenshot function, the image automatically gets saved into My Documents/My pictures/Flight Simulator X Files by default. I didn't set it up that way, that was the case right after I installed FSX. I then open the image into my image editor and do what I want with it.

NIGEL

Hope all is well in your world today

has anyone asked what version he is running....??

If FS9: hit printscreen and then open paint or other program and paste...  or altunitivly you can use the FRAPs program as others have said...

if FSX then hit the "V" key and they will be saved in My Documents/my pictures/ FSX  you can then open from there into your paint program...

if you have photoshop CS you can point Adobe Bridge to that file so you can get there quickly when you open photoshop.

Yes it is FSX. I downloaded Grabclipsave and all is well. Tried to download Multigrab but when I tried to install it said a .dll file was missing.

Just use "v", and it's the easiest way.  It's all saved into a folder somewhere in "My Documents" (mentioned above).  It's by far easier than anything else.

Oh, and don't forget your cake...Smiley

As long as you're happy. That missing DLL is posted on the MultiGrab download page. Download the Latest dll set
