I have never seen a boat make more erratic turn and speed changes. I understand it's supposed to be a challenge, but aren't boats supposed to hold straight when a helicpoter is approaching? It's really frustrating me right now.

Urm...if you are talking about the helicopter tutorial...

...the Yacht is moving just fine. Make your approach slowly and just follow it for a alittle while, don't attempt to land until it straightens out its course again...

if you're god at heli. flying it shouldn't be a problem.

I think it moves at about 25kts...or was that the carrier...?

anyways, I'd practice landing on the carrier a few times first. try picking a spot on the carrier and landing on the specific spot. if you don't line up perfectly, don't land. increase power and fly the "approch" again. that way, when you have to land on a small moving pad, you'll be good at it.

Try flying next to the yacht to find out it's speed, then you know how fast you have to be going when you land.

I dont know about civi helos... most likely the same... but during flightdeck ops on the small boys when I was in the Navy.... attached to an HSL squadron.... the ship had to be in the head wind... (wind direction from fore to aft).... not sure if this is the same reason in the mission... but could be the ship is positioning itself into the wind...

I actualy found it quite easy to land, though my chopper slowly slid off so i had to redo the approach. Try fixing your view on a certain point in the distance to get into a hover behind the boat.
