Hi everyone,

I'm new here, but am enjoying downloading/installing several 'goodies'.
One I have my eye on is the Constellation, or "Connie"
As a young boy I'd visit my grandparents at Rockdale, across from Kingsford Smith (Sydney NSW) airport.
And on some occasions would walk all the way over to a large concrete rectangular sewerage/drainage? outlet conduit, climb up & watch the aircraft through the perimeter fence.

The Connies would shake all the cups saucers windows & plates as they flew over..... Shocked Smiley

I've had several attempts at downloading the Connie, all to no avail.
the download seems  to start, then stops & won't restart. It's nearly 37 Mb.
Sometimes it doesn't even downl;oad anything at all.

Can anyone advise me how I can get this please?.

I have FSX deluxe.

Thanks,

Noel.B

It seems your problem is with your connection. Why not try a different version of the Connie. Mike Stone's is a much smaller file. http://www.pmstone.com/LockheedSuperConstellation.htm

Once you've installed it there's an update for it in the FSX section here. http://www.simviation.com/fsxvintage1.htm

Hi Pete,

The page is:-
"FSX Vintage Aircraft" page # 1

Sorry for not putting this in my thread.

Is there another way I can download?.
I'm on broadband & have used ftp for other downloads (not FS).
Do authors sometimes have their own website with models etc downoadable from there?.
Or do all FS items have to go through a MS_authorised website?.

Thanks for your interest Pete, & looking forward to being able to get this model.

Noel. I think that file is the update to Mike Stone's Connie I mentioned in my previous reply. You have to install the original aircraft first. Read the included instructions carefully.

The FSX update is only 190 Kb. You shouldn't have any problems downloading it. Mike's Connie is just over 1 Mb.

Hi Hagar,

I've downloaded & installed the FS2004 Connie, but each time I try to download the update, it gets to 50% & stops.
I'm wondering if I will still have the same problem even if I pay to upgrade  my Simviation membership!.

That page # 1 is the same page # the large (37 Mb) Connie was on (I think?).
But I don't see that Connie anymore!???.

Hi Hagar,

Finally (after about ten goes) I've been able to get it downloaded.
I've skimmed through the readme, & for me it's a little complex, so "Tomorrow is another day".

Many thanks for your help Hagar & Pete,

Your problems have nothing to do with accessing the free site. Any problem connecting to our FTP download system probably lies within your machine or ISP. There should be zero problem downloading anything from Simviation - check the following:

Reboot
Reconnect to your ISP
Do not download more than 2 files at one time (applies to the non members site)
Check that Firewall does not bar Simviation from your trusted sites
Do not use any download accellerator on the non members site

If you still have problems..

Empty browser cache & Temp internet files & reboot.

If you still have problems - do a tracert

Go to Start/Run    type 'tracert www.simviation.com'   Look for time outs or '*'s  .. these indicate the points where your connection has problems. Closing & reconnecting to your ISP will often resolve this.

Hi Pete,

Can you tell me please the simviation port #; so I can add it to my firewall 'exceptions' list.

I use "Fresh Download", for downloading.
Can you give me details to do a straight ftp-download please?.
(so there's no download acceleration happening).

Thank you Pete for your input on this.
I appreciate all the good advice & friendly assistance I'm getting.    Smiley

Hi - you don't need a port number - just the domain will do ...

Hi Pete,

I was trying to add Simviation to my XP firewall (exceptions).
There is a text box for the url, & one for the site's port #.
I cannot add it to the firewall exceptions until I put something in the 'port #' textbox.
The "enter" button is ghosted.

My advice to anyone is never use the default MS firewall - disable that & get something like Zonealarm. Far more efficient.

Herein probably lies a nest of problems Wink
