Hello, yes I'm new here.

I am not a pilot, just someone who enjoys Flight Simulator. I own FS9 and have for many years. I just got FSX for Christmas.

One of my favorite aircraft is the Dauntless D1. I am curious how do I install it in FSX. Unlike other Aircraft files, it has an Install button instead of an Aircraft folder and gauges folders.

Currently it wants to install in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9"

I changed it to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X"

This did not work, where should I install the aircraft. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Ranger. First of all I would be very wary of using FS9 auto-install files in FS9, let alone in FSX. My advice would be to direct the install to a temp folder & install the files manually. However, since you have done the deed it's too late for that.

I'm not sure exactly which file we're talking about so I can't check it out for you. If you open the FSX root directory folder I suspect you will find a folder named Aircraft with the Dauntless inside it. Paste the Dauntless into the FSX\SimObjects\airplanes folder instead. This is the default location for FSX aircraft. Please tell me if that worked.

Self Extracting FS9 aircraft will never go into FSX - completely different location & a different path to the relevant folder for storing aircraft files.

Extract it into a Temp folder (create any old temp folder if necessary)

Then move the main aircraft folder (the one with Model/Sound/Texture/Panel subfolders) into the SimObjects\Airplanes folder. Check the Aircraft.cfg under 'ui_manufacturer=' to see how to find it easily.

P.S. Completely revised 'How to Install Aircraft into FS*' Coming soon to a website near you Smiley
