Just got the sim. It's cool, but without warning every now and again crashes to the desktop. It installed fine. Undecided

P.S and it leaves all my desktop massively chunky which means I have to restart the 'puter.

Yup.  Me too.  Same symptom.  Just installed CFS3 on a new box with 4GB of RAM, Athelon 64 Dual Core processor, and dual nVidia GX8800's with SLI.  If I do a clean boot, it seems to work OK--but get this-- sometimes just dropping the CD in the drive can make everything lock up!!  Even turning off the CA Anti Virus and CA Anti-Spyware hasn't helped.  It doesn't happen with any consistently discernable event, so I am totally stumped.  Sheesh.

Looking at my Startups using TUT as this is written, but would appreciate any feedback from other frustrated power flt simmers.

Undecided

Greystone, follow this link and pay attention to what Potoroo says. It's a known issue with dual cores apparently, he's posted the fix.

Woodlouse-- Many thanks for the tip.  I installed the AMD driver but the Optimizer Install Shield Wizard kept asking me if I wanted to remove it.  Perhaps it was included in the driver package?  Dunno.  We'll see if this makes a difference and cuts out the crashes.  I'll post results here.
