Hi Chaps

Sorry I've not been around since I posted about the Area51 project.....I should say straight away that it is still on, but will now be a Summer release, and for FSX only......for FSX is a truely powerful tool....and we can do a wonderous Area 51 with it......

As such, I just wanted to share a little project I've been working on over Xmas of a flying "Dinosaur" for FSX........I've got footage of it over at Google Vids......

However, I know there are strict rules about posting external links on this site, so I ask in all innocence and hope...is it ok if I post the Google Vids link here...  Smiley

Cheers...

Thanks for letting me post the link, you chaps have been really good to me in the past, and I sure don't want to come in breaking the rules.....

Here is the link to my Xmas project......I tend to lock myself away for 2 weeks and just "play".....this year, I came up with this....

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=4895237424381010409

Now, this is for sure an FSX exclusive, there is no way FS9 can do this......but in essence, we have a pretty simple mesh of a Pterosaur, roughly 4000 polys.......22 bones, skin and a looping animation over 400 frames.......

I then exported this to X format, then gave it the XtoMDL treatment, and overwrote one of the Default gliders that comes with FSX...so, in other words, it is using a Glider .cfg for flight control.......

The feet look pretty stupid becasue I did'nt model them very well, and becuase they are not animated, as when I got to 23 bones, things started to go wrong....however, I've been in touch with better brains, and they've pointed me in the right direction, so I'll be getting his Talons to work and look "right" over the next few days........

At some point in the future I'm toying with doing a Mission with it where you have to drop FSX Fish/Food "Bombs" into a Nest of Hungry Hatchlings..... Grin

As for what this means for Area 51........it means little green men running around.....truely bizzare shapes in the sky......a "living" environment.......FSX really does offer some exciting possibilities.....

Cheers

And have a good new year all...... Smiley
