Simviation Forum - Need help with f16 download on fsx

ive downloaded the f16. ive placed all the files in the right area, but the plane doesnt show up..........my file might be open, could that be it.....im new too all of this

ozzy its most likely the kirk olsen update, in which case OUTR8GE you need to download the entire aircraft here first. THEN install the update.

The FS9 Viper will display in FSX without any modification. Download USVIPER.zip here. ---> http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military2.htm
Extract the zipfile to a temp folder & look for a folder inside it named VIPER. Paste the VIPER folder into FSX\SimObjects\airplanes. This should give you 5 different variations of the Lockheed Martin F-16 with a basic panel. I didn't try the recommended Eric Marciano panel as this is originally for FS2002. Here's one example in the FSX Demo.

I tried the FSX update which seems to have only one variation for some unknown reason. Also, one of the gauges gives an incompatible message.

PS. There's no point in trying to install the update if the original FS9 version doesn't show up.

I have no problem with viper in fsx.
If you past the fs9 viper into fsx, get the fsx panel a.o. update, replace it in the ac, AND get the free fsx fsuip4 by Dowson, then you must be flying.
If you want the f16 to be showen in aircraft select, find a picture, rename it to thumbnail.jpg, and place it in aircraft texture folder.
Try again and let us know.

o...so a pic doesnt come up to show u the f16? where is the plane located once you paste and all of that and ill try this tomorr.

If you install the f16 correct there will be a dummy pic in select telling you it tis the f16.
Make sure you got all folders inside the plane: model, panel, sound and texture.
Make sure the right things is inside those folders, and the sound folders cfg file is not aliasing sound to an aircraft you dont have in fsx.
Try and copy a panel folder from a default aircraft. If the f16 shows up in select, then you're closer to the problem.

The FS9 Viper has its own panel & sound files. It will work fine in FSX as shown in my shot. If you install the FSX update according to the instructions the thumbnail will display on the selection menu. Copied from read me.txt with the update: Quote:

Unzip to a folder of your choice. After backing up your air and aircraft.cfg files, replace them with the ones in this update. The picture (Viper vc.jpg) is to be copied to the same place as the aircraft.cfg file. Copy the gauges and effects to the main FS gauges and effects folders.

It also includes an update to the Eric Marciano panel recommended for the FS9 version.

Yes Hagar.
You and i know. Was just trying to tip our freind where the problems could be.
Even the fs9 f16 should show in aircraft select as a dummy.
Nothing obviously is showing, so fsx is not reading the plane.
Lets hear how OUT is doing now.

ok ive down loaded this ( USVIPER.zip here. ---> http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military2.htm) unziped to a temp. file, then copied and pasted to FSX\SimObjects\airplanes is their anything else that im missing to do......
