Hi Luke...!

I peeked in on Sam's Server as usual, and got thrown into a gaggle of various helicopter pilots, etc,  from different parts of the globe, at 7:00 P.M.

Much too crowded to work successfully...!

Thought better of it and joined an alternative server with some elder Mates for an private, excellent flight over the same course, played by pre-agreed rules, and using the default aircraft... Cool...!

A truly excellent, peaceful, well executed flight which everyone enjoyed.... Smiley...!

Finished at YPBO.

Cheers... Smiley...!

Paul...G-BPLF... Cool...!

I was late....not enough time to mess around and wait.  Too bad nobody could have mentioned this to us whilst we were there.
I have a suggestion.  Maybe somebody could arrange it so that nobody apart from tour hoppers be on the server at the time of the tours.  It would save hassle and also, if people don't abide by the rules of the tour, they get kicked.
Just a suggestion...thats all..

.....there i was waiting patiently next to the runway in my Baron 58.....

I have suggested this before, but as Mic has noted, Sam's Server is a Public Server, so anyone can do whatever they like, and "thingy*" it up for everyone else, if they so wish... Cry...!

The Server which I occasionally join is still a Public server, but it is protected against annoying little Folk making a nuisance of themselves during various prearranged hops/flights.....Wink...!

It encourages/ensures observing common courtesy.

It would be nice if Sam could generate a few more additional addresses on his Server to separate different groups of fliers... Wink...!

Never mind...there's always tomorrow... Smiley...!

Paul....G-BPLF.... Cool...!

Yeah you got a point Foz.  I have another idea for the tours.  People who wanna join, could agree to fly default a/c only and put their name on a list.  Then the organiser could PM those people telling them the IP address for the server.  It would be hassle, but if somebody could volunteer to help with the PM'ing, it would be easier.
IMO this could work, and it would get rid of the annoying people who cruise around at Mach 2 point one million whilst we are trying to fly at 150 knots peacefully to somewhere nice in Australia...

Fine...be like that!
To correct my previous statement....
Do it like I said, to prevent those who decide to annoy everyone by doing the tour in an aircraft that isn't fixed wing and GA!  I.e. prop driven GA aircraft suitable for the tours.
For example
Beechcraft Baron 58 (default)
Beechcraft King Air 350 (default, again!)
Most of the Cessnas (Oh look, more default!)

THOSE AIRCRAFT ARE FUN TO FLY!!!!  If you don't fancy doing the hops in slower things, run your own fast-paced hops and stop annoying everyone else!  Please!

Rant over, just my 2 pence worth, no offence intended, or anything personal.  Apologies if you took it personally.

I'm calm, dont take it as grumpy  Wink
I am calm, some things tend to get on my wick a bit.  LOL
I was sarcastic when i said fine be like that lol, just fancied a rant, in accordance to what you said Fozzer, so no harm done eh?

Jimbo cheers for noting the problems...i know this would have been the first flight for me with the tour, but it still annoys me.  I have had this before with other tours trust me, and it has got on my nerves a bit.
Still, something good.  Christmas dinner later!!! (Currently 0016)
Cheers,

Hi Jimbo...!

It wasn't so much of a problem in the "Olden Days"...FS'98/2000/2002....

Multiplayer was not easy to access then, so not many folks used the Multiplayer facility in the program, and those few that did were generally the elderly types, not accustomed to in-flight wars and custard pie throwing.... Cool...!

Now that it is easier to get into, everyone and his dog are hell-bent on racing around the skies in Multiplayer, and tripping over each other in their enthusiasm.... Shocked...!

It's very much like the Radio/TV Broadcast Bands, they are getting more crowded each year....!

Cheers all...!

Paul....Custard pies are nice to eat... Tongue... Wink...!

After agreeing with most of the stuff that has been said (apart from default a/c......as long as your aircraft is the same kind of type as a default aircraft and you switch to it beforehand I dont see the problem in using add-ons (eg. me using a piper seneca because I prefer flying it to a baron and selecting the baron first so everyone sees me as a twin engined plane))

But, after all that agreement you made a statement I cannot agree with Paul Grin

So now i'm running a tour, and different people are using different servers? beyond the point i think.

Something needs to be sorted, if it means putting the tour on hold for a week, because i think this kind of thing isn't very good, and other members, especially myself, when we come to a tour, and no-one is or isn't going to be there.

As ive said, it has been noted. I DO have some admin privelidges, such as helping kicking some annoying person on the server, but i dont want to do that, because it just causes grief.  We are a friendly community most of the time, and lets keep it like that. a COMMUNITY, a COMMUNITY sticks together, and doesn't ponder off to different servers. If this is going to be the case, fair do's, that means i wont have to spend 30mins a week planning the tour, but if you are still wanting the tour, stick together, because at the moment it doesn't look like it.

Fair do, if that is the case then we better hope that someone higher up does sort something out.

Cheers Jimbo,

I really dont see what the problem is, but i guess others need it sorting. I'm doing everything i can. Sorry chaps, but i'm really P*ssed off with this. Switching servers etc isn't what i know of the original tours i have.

Hi Jimbo, me ol' Mate...!

The only thing I can suggest is that you supply your own Server address details together with a special password to gain access to the Flight.

This is what the other Site's Servers do, to prevent annoying so-and-so's from invading the flights and annoying the genuine players... Shocked...!

The Sim V flight organisers used to do it in the past, and it worked very well...remember...Wink...!

Jared does something similar for his "adult" Tours, and it seems to keep the annoying tits* out...Wink...!

My "alternative" Server does exactly the same thing, indeed we all used to use them at one time...!

In the past I have been PM'd a Server address and password for a selected flight by the "Flight Host-er" and it was highly successful.

"Open invitations" don't always work the way you expect these days, unfortunately, and can cause chaos... Cry...!

Paul....G-BPLF... Cool...!

* It's amazing what alternative words the Sim V censorship dictionary can find... Grin...!

I think I will stay out of this one from now on...seems to be annoying people.
I can see the view of both sides, but having people buzzing you in jets gets kinda tedious.
It would be fine if you could fly the jet at 170 kts. Lol
Cheers, and Merry Christmas,

Mark

Ashame of us, squabbling like bloody vultures over somebody elses kill.

Certainely not befitting educated computer world people.

Something was started by somebody for a certain use. If I do not like it why not start my own.

Well, I am getting back into the Flight sim world after a long absence. Flying FSX right now and prob. going to load FS9 back up.

I remember when Jimbo started this thing up. I got in on one of the earlier sessions and many of, I think it was Jared's running down through SA hops.

If anyone goes through all the trouble of setting up something as elaborate as what Jimbo and others do for our enjoyment..........then by gosh every noodle head better be following the guidelines set forth......acft. type, speed, route, comms etc. If they are not........kick 'em with pointy toe boots!

You take on headaches heading up something like this as in clans. There has to be distinct rules/guidelines and they have to be enforced to the nth degree.

Thanks for your hard work and dedication Jimbo......don't give it up.  Hope to see you all in there soon.
