I have been getting a lot of e-mail & a few messageboard posts asking this question.  The following was asked at SimHq:

"I've noticed all these recent planes are either "B" or "C" grade planes. Not one "A".
Is that because your standards are so high you don't even give your own work an "A"?  "

To which I responded:

We have a very specific grading system for our releases. Standard version AvHistory 1%, Class "B" & Class "C" - both player flyable along with Class "D" which is AI only.

That being said all four classes have the full Version-4 flight, damage & weapons packages.

The object is to get more visual designers involved, especially new guys, some of whom may not be fully experienced in all areas of visual development.

At the same time we don't want to over hype the aircraft just to get download numbers so we believe y'all should be aware of what you are downloading & modify your expectations accordingly.

Second thing is, while I appreciate the kind words, its important to note that AvHistory is not just the BEAR show.  I get a lot of underserved ink because I am the spokesman for AvHistory so you see my name a lot..maybe too much

We are very dependent & indebted to the visual design guys who give us some really great airframes to work with.  It should also be remembered that GregoryP is the true flight model algorithms god & I just do weapons & damage.

So on behalf AvHistory may I wish you a Merry Christmas & let you know there may be a few more presents under the tree.
