Hi
I am not a technical master or an engeneer, but reading on another site about that FSX miss some files or some files are in the wrong position, make me thinking to give a try and start Filemon with a filter that permitt only that FSX.exe is checked..
well after start filemon and start FSX, without starting any flight, only the GUI of the setting and close.
The log of file mon show A LOT  of files not found, all inside the default installation folder of FSX.
Some of them:

Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe.Manifest       NOT FOUND      Options: Open  Access: 001200A9

\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_Air_TransBus_Euro_Silver_sm.CAB      NOT FOUND      Attributes: Error

Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\VEH_Air_FireTruck_US_Red_sm\texture.CAB      NOT FOUND      Attributes: Error

these are only few of the files, other are related also to the textures forlder or dll missed.
As i said i am not an expert and i am reporting what expert are telling about, and is that these missed files are the couse of the long time loading of the sim, probably they are not arming the performance intented fps or smoothness of the game...but they could be..
I hope that the new coming patch, will fix this, for the benefit of all of us.

I hope that someone else can test this, with a knowledge bigger than mine...

Someone can explain this kind of issue, and if is possible to fix this, even this will be very long and maybe not for all the users...

Cheers
Stefano

those files are probably not necessary to begin with... they must have been removed in the game development process by ACES themselves Huh

if there´s nothing wrong with your sim, then i think those files were never suposed to be there anyways, at least not in the final version... being half a game designer myself, i can only think that those files had to do with debugging and were never neded in the retail version of FS, others may be part of some functios that were removed from the final game for whatever reason, maybe features not finished in time Roll Eyes

Hi Moach and thanks for the replay.
Well as i said i am not an expert, so i was al ittle amazed about this post i have read, and to be honest, the answer were a little confused for me, a lot in a technical way, so i wanted to look at this myself and found what i have reported.
My sim is going fine, is the retailed standard version, and probably i have found the right setting to make it run smooth enough with my specifics as pc.
Maybe i will upgrade the video card from ATI X 1600 XT to ATI 1900 cross fire edition 512 Mega, not in SLI, just alone, hoping that this card can improve a little..
Some suggestion about?

FWIW, FS9 does alot of seemingly unnecessary file searchs...paths that do not exist.  Scenery files
with a CAB extention, etc.

I believe it's a case of the software types trying to cover all bases even though there is little or
no possibility that a file would be placed in that location or have that extension.

In subsequent revision they just did cut & paste operations of this boiler plate code, resulting
in alot of wasted CPU cycles and hard drive operations.

When one looks at the filemon output from FS9 or FSX  you'll soon fill pages of log file with
mostly seemingly illogical operations. To me, it's a case of sloppy programming, but then in
my code writing days we had minimal memory resources and tight time constraints that
required highly optimized code. Today with memory and hard drives cheap and large,
the tendency to allow the code to grow to fill the available space seems rampant.
