Simmers, pay attention to Nicks answer in this link. He just give you the opportunity to fly fs9 and fsx with todays pc's, and you are sitting in the air.

I want to make it quite clear that if anyone wishes to run through that thread they make SURE they read the entire thread and UNDERSTAND the risks involved.
BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
My 'expertise' is based on experience and although I may have a grasp on how things work, I learn new things just like everyone else. I do not know every single issue and fix to every combination of hardware, drivers and software on the market so although what I post may significantly improve a users expereince, it may also cause unforseen issues as that thread clearly displays.
It was not my goal to become the forum tech support when I posted that information. It is there for anyone to try but is not there for me to start a complete diagnostic of all hardware and software issues that may surface because of it.
I will help as I can but I can not be expected to fix everyones system. There is also NO SUBSTITUE for GOOD and PROPERLY specified hardware.
As long as anyone who may try the items in that thread accepts the risks and also PROPERLY backs up to ensure your system is safe, you may find value in all, or even just part of the information outlined.
EDIT: And if you are not sure or do not understand what you are doing... seek professional 1 on 1 assistance

It is an important point Nick is making up above there, and I want to reinforce it.
Nick is not your personal online tech support person!
He could end up spending his entire life helping individuals on SimV with their machines.
He gives the info he posts out as a "service to the field" .... but remember..... there is a limit. It is a "gift" to the flight sim community he give us. So please don't impose on him. Whatever help he is able to give .... you should appreciate for the selfless act that it is. He does not "owe" you anything. Anything he gives is "above and beyond".
best,
......john

My grandson is a member on this board too and I do not get as much time with him as I would like so he gets the benefits of time I spend posting here along with everyone else.
I'm gonna get it now.. I better check my email

Nick. I'm sorry if i have startet something up here. It was not ment to give you hard work, but i've read so many questions and topics about fps and memory problems in fs9 and fsx. Your input could help a lot of simmers. Its good and clever, made by a person who knows, and i've seen this topics linked at avsim too.
If i may, i will point out two issues that are not so dangerous:
System - Advanced Tab.
Services Shutdown.
These two will gain a lot to many pc's, but i am going to repeat your warning:
BACK UP ANYTHING YOU CHANGE!!!!!
Sorry Nick.

Backing up is one of the basic rules in editing, and i tell you, most people learn it the hard way. I've had complete models gone bye bye because i forgot to do my monthly backup.

Please do not get the wrong impression about what I said.
I do not mind dealing with a few issues because they add value to the thread and demonstrate the different issues one may face while installing or setting up a system. In that, more answers can be found and without asking over and over again.
I wil never tell anyone to piss off. That is just not in my nature. If someone has a problem and I think it will add value to the thread or if it is something I may be able to help with I do not mind posting. I just do not want 1000 people coming in from all over the net expecting personal service especially since that thread appears to be getting linked and bookmarked from outside quite a bit.
If you find your system running well from what was posted and perhaps you made changes to what I posted because of something specific to your system, that should be added. A thread like that is a database of both good information along with the pitfalls one may come across, with a possible fix.. or perhaps not.
With the exception of one other thread at another site that required my attention, my time is exclusive to SimV and its members.

I actually read it as a joke and had a good laugh... Since this is a diverse community I just want to make sure that I clarified things.
I will always help whenever I can. If there is something that most likely can not be addressed in a thread I will suggest professional services.
There is always more that can be accomplished with a system. Add-ons, scenery, issues, fixes, tweaks based on what is installed into the sim and the tower... the list is almost endless. What I posted simply scratches the surface. There are services such as FSGS which are invaluable because the user can get a 1 on 1 hardware suggestions, upgrade planning and recommendations based on an individual system and what the user has installed. Just because I posted a common technique that may enhance performance there is always much more that can be accomplished and I am sure Michael is busy in going through the ins and out's in preparation for the future of FSX as well.
There is no such thing as the perfect set of settings or tweaks... they are ALL DIFFERENT based on the system and what is installed into each sim.
