I submitted this game idea to gearbox, let me know what you think.  Cheesy

B-17: CREW

A brothers in arms style storyline and character development mixed with microproses title "B-17 the mighty eighth" only with a face lift.

The story concentrates on the 10 man crew of a world war 2 B-17 and their struggle to survive through 25 harrowing missions. The player can choose from any one of 10 playable positions, each one having its own challenges and responsibities. Missions are played similarly to Microproses B-17 the mighty eighth while down time between missions is played through cut scenes and a First person shooter type mode during which the player interacts with and gets to know the various characters of the game.

Through deep story line, great visuals, and stunning sound effects the game should submerge the player into nearly every aspect of being a B-17 crew member during WW2.

any thoughts??

They wont do anything with it, just because of the sheer fact that this can cause serious trouble for gearbox if one of the people that submitted a idea sues them for plagiarism. Even though they can write otherwise on there website.

You now RitterKruez would it more interesting to do the same Sim on the B29 instead of the B17. The B17 is great subject but it has been done before while the B29 has been basically ignored. We have B17II and CFS3 but nothing that includes a B29 that you can not only fly but also be able to handle its gun turrents and Bombsights. Now that would different and fun. We do have some nice flyable B29 in CFS2 but we cannot use the gun turrents to defend it and CFS3 has a nice B29 but its in the wrong Theater. Pacific Fighter B29 are only for Ai. So you see we are in a tremendous need of a B29 dedicate Sim.

good point from both of you, though i never expeted them to do anything wih it to be perfectly honest. but it does sound like a good game. even if you do it on a B-24 Liberator or  B-29.

B-17 the mighty eighth by microprose was a good game, but what i didnt like about it is that you usually only fly with 8 or 10 other B-17s and by the end of the mission it was almost always down to like you and one or two other guys.

though the game was good at the time it has lost its visual appeal.

given todays systems capabilities i would think it would be possible to have formations of nearly 50+ aircraft zooming towards Germany, France or Japan or Romania or Italy etc...

I think any company can make a good bomber sim, we have all seen the sims where you navigate around your base in a slide show from room to room and you are the only person there... but a bomber sim where you could navigate around your base in first person 3D and be involved with developing characters and a moving story line would definately set the bar for bomber sims pretty high. IMHO

What im really lookign forward to is the release of the recently announced "ALIENS" by gearbox software! they have signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to make an up to date version of the Aliens game and take advantage of todays systems capabilities! that should rock!

I agree in the need for a WWII based operations game with bombers especially the B-29 superfortress, my favorite aircraft Smiley
