Almost forgot I thought I overheard someone talking about this... just confirmed it. Raymond was a lot funnier because of this guy, and of course who can forget his turn as The Monster in Young Frankenstein... no idea he was sick; very sad.

Yeah, that was a bad loss... funniest curmudgeon/ sleazebag ever, with a good talent for slapstick, too.
  His characterizations often reminded me of my father... not so funny in real life. Grin
