Can you suggest me a software which is able to use a webcam to detect head movements and pan the view in FS (virtual cockpit and spot view) accordingly?

You are in luck!  Do a web search for "visualmouse" It works very well in FSX. Also look at http://www.efmer.eu/ ; Both of these are free but I have not tried the latter yet. I also downloaded intellipoint 5.5 mouse driver from Microsoft. This can be used with ANY mouse. It allows you to allocate any mouse button for any application. I set the middle mouse button for Shift-O. So in the VC, press the mouse button and you have full mouse panning. It works well with visualmouse.

re my previous post. I took it forgranted that you have FSX. Visualmouse will not work in FS10. I am not too sure about the the program from efmer. Good luck.

Sorry. I am just too quick on the keyboard. Visualmouse will not work with FS9. Perfect with FSX.

I was just brainstorming on this and came up with this:

FS already has a function that allows you to move the view around using the mouse.  You push a button on the keyboard (I think) and the mouse pointer disappears.  When you move the mouse around, the view moves as well.

So if you could find some sort of remote device that would move the mouse pointer around on screen by aiming it (much like a laser pointer, but making the mouse pointer move) you could attach it to a hat or headband and simply push that one button, then move your head around.  That would solve your issue.

I hope all that made sense! Tongue

Good idea, but the webcam and vmouse combination works seamlessly. Takes a bit of getting used to. Also with the intellimouse drivers (5.5). So I load vmouse then FSX. Then when I am in VC, all I do is click the centre mouse button ( set it up first in the mouse driver properties the activate Shift-O in FSX). then, as I look around, the VC view changes. Mouse view control is also active, so if I loose my focus/view by moving too quickly, I can always get it back by using the mouse. Whew. It is quicker to do than to explain, but a whole new dimension to FSX, and it is a LOT cheaper (free) than TrackIR. Any cheap webcam works.

You can try the new Track! version for FSX. It now interfaces directly with FSX.

Has anyone got efmer to work in fs9 with good results. I have been trying to set it up but just can't seem to get it centred in the virtual cockpit  its seem a good alternative to the more expensive IRTracker

Cheers
